  • Patent number: 5709251
Abstract: The device is used for winding coils for electric machines, in particular those with a large number of poles or with divided two-circuit turns. A rotating flyer (14) creates coil turns on a template, which are stripped off into a receiver (16). In order to obtain a minimally short inter-pole connection when winding connected coils, the template (12) is provided with at least one recess (36) on the circumference or with a separating gap (13), into which a holder (26), which holds the wire at the start of winding, can be introduced. In order to obtain end sections of a defined length on the coils, the wire (34) is clamped by the holder (26) between the flyer (14) and the template (12) and is then pulled out by means of a gripper (42) to a clamping and cutting device (44, 46).

  • Patent number: 5647405
Abstract: The device for winding coils for electrical machines has a spindle box which can be displaced along a guide, a multi-part template held thereon fixed against relative rotation, which can be axially aligned with a coil receiver and can be adjusted to be variable in width. A wire guide rotates around the template and in the process creates coil windings. When the coil width is changed, it is necessary to correctingly adjust the spindle box, so that the alignment of a part of the template with the coil receiver is maintained. A measuring system is provided to assure this axial alignment of the parts with great certainty, which measures the distance between a point on the template part and a point on the spindle box as well as the distance between a point on the spindle box and a point on the machine frame.

  • Patent number: 5232026
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for winding of coils comprising parallel wires onto a former (16) and for the axial insertion of the coils into a stator or rotor of an electric machine using a transfer tool (14). The coils are arranged in offset groups around the periphery of the transfer tool (14) and in order to generate coils so that there is no interruption in the coil wires and the wires are not twisted, and the coil windings are produced on the former (16) by rotating the former (16) jointly and in engagement with the transfer tool (14) in front of a wire guidance element (42) which is held so as to be substantially non-rotatable. During the joint rotation of the former and tool, the coil windings are slipped from the former (16) onto the transfer tool (14) at different relative angular positions.

  • Patent number: 5218752
Abstract: A device is provided for forming coils which are inserted into radially inwardly open slots of a stator or rotor plate pack of an electric machine. The device enables intermediate forming of coils disposed in specific slots in order to also allow insertion of the coils of a further winding in the same slots and thus allow free forming. The device comprises a holding device for the plate pack and a forming mandrel. The latter includes a plurality of radially extendable laminae distributed about the periphery thereof. Different groups of laminae can be extended by a predetermined radial path length by push rods which can be driven independently of one another in order to force outwardly, and form in certain slots, the coil strands that have been inserted into the slots. Further, forming rings which are axially movable relative to the plate pack are provided to enable forming of winding heads.

  • Patent number: 4967469
Abstract: The insertion finger is made of a striptype heart (10) and sheet metal lips (16) connected thereto. It is intended for use with a device for inserting coils in stators of electrical machines. More specifically, it is used for the insertion of coils into grooves of helical stator sheet packages. For that purpose, the heart (10) is composed of a plurality of segments (20) axially disposed in side-by-side relationship and movable relative to one another. This construction causes the insertion finger to follow a helical stator tooth, insuring at the same time a safe and non-resilient guidance of the coils during the process of insertion and a uniform support of the forces to be absorbed throughout the length of the insertion finger so that there is relatively low wear.
