  • Patent number: 6454337
Abstract: A cargo bay cover for a pickup truck including at least first and second parallel cargo bay panels hingedly mounted to a frame member spanning the cargo bay of the pickup. The cover includes a unique clamping bracket for attaching the frame member to the side rails of the pickup. A curved wind seal member is mounted on the top of the sides of the bed and includes a first seal mounted between the edge of the panels and the wind seal member, and a second seal mounted between the bottom surface of the panels and the wind seal member. The wind seal is mounted to a stake pocket of the truck with a universal stake-pocket mounting nut. The cover further includes lock mechanism recessed below the top surface of the cargo bay panel so that a key in the lock mechanism is below the top of the cover. The lock mechanism includes universal lock catch adjustable on two axes to hold the cover in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 6325439
Abstract: A storage unit for a truck bed includes a container sized to fit between the truck bed sidewalls. Support portions extend leftward and rightward from the upper corners of the container. The support portions are adapted to rest on the top of the truck bed sidewalls to suspend the container within the truck bed. The container is suspended at or below the plane defined by the support portions. The support portions have a relatively low profile height so that the storage unit is useful in conjunction with a low profile or low silhouette truck bed cover.

  • Patent number: 5653491
Abstract: A cargo bay cover for a cargo bay of a pickup truck includes at least first and second cargo bay panels arranged generally parallel to each other, each configured to span the cargo bay of the pickup truck with opposite ends resting on opposite sidewalls of the cargo bay, a hinge interconnecting the first and second cargo bay panels in a manner such that the first and second cargo bay panels can be rotated about the hinge and folded onto the other of the first and second cargo bay panels, and a bracket assembly interconnecting the hinge to the opposite sidewalls of the cargo bay for retaining the first and second cargo bay panels above the cargo bay, the bracket assembly having at least one flange pivotally depending from the hinge proximate to and secured to at least one of the sidewalls.

  • Patent number: 4946217
Abstract: A low silhouette cargo bay cover for pickup trucks and the like includes an angle member mounted on the cargo bay sides equipped with a flexible gasket to form a seal with the cover. The cover has a special narrow panel adjacent the cab to make it possible to more completely expose the cargo area of the turck and improved seal means at each of the hinges to more effectively exclude moisture.

  • Patent number: 4844531
Abstract: The cover for the otherwise open cargo bed of a pickup truck includes a plurality of rectangular panels hinged together laterally of the cargo bed so as to fold forwardly in accordion fashion for storage as a compact stack at the forward end of the bed. The panels are thin whereby the stack has a low silhouette and does not obstruct the rear window of the cab. At least the sides of the cover are enclosed by an upstanding gasket which shields the cover from the vehicle's slip stream and crosswinds which would otherwise make it necessary to provide a tie-down for the cover when in cargo bay closure position.
