Abstract: A method for the production of a plant-based medicament which contains Iberis amara, Menthae piperitae folium, Matricariae flos, Carvi fructus, Melissae folium, Angelicae radix, Liquiritiae radix, Cardui mariae fructus and Chelidonii herba in the form of alcoholic extracts and a medicament produced according to this method, and its use.
Abstract: In a method for the production of tablets from plant extracts such as St. John's wort extract with an extract content of 80%, the extract treated on a conveyor dryer is compacted after adding 1% of silicon dioxide, and a granulate with a defined particle size distribution and therefore a defined surface area is produced from the compactate. To achieve a high rate of decomposition and active agent release with a low adjuvant content and high extract content, a combination of blasting agents including sodium hydrogencarbonate and two other, lower-dosed blasting agents such as croscarmellose sodium and sodium carboxymethyl starch—among other adjuvants—is added. The method results in a tablet suitable for oral administration containing 900 mg of St. John's wort extract.
Abstract: A method for prevention of atherosclerosis or for treatment of hyperlipidaemia or atherosclerosis comprises administering a compound or a mixture of compounds according to formula (I) ##STR1## as defined herein.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of magnesium pyridoxal-5'-phosphate glutamate, in which pyridoxine or an acid addition salt thereof is oxidised with manganese (IV) oxide to pyridoxal; pyridoxal is reacted with p-phenetidine under formation of the Schiff's base p-phenetidyl-pyridoxal; p-phenedityl-pyridoxal is selectively phosphorylated on the 5'-hydroxymethyl group under formation of p-phenetidyl-pyridoxal-5'-phosphate; p-phenetidyl-pyridoxal-5'-phosphate is hydrolysed under formation of an alkali metal salt of pyridoxal-5'-phosphate; the alkali metal ions are removed in order to obtain pyridoxal-5'-phosphate; pyridoxal-5'-phosphate is reacted with a reaction product of a magnesium alcoholate and L-glutarnic acid; and the formed magnesium pyridoxal-5'-phosphate glutamate is isolated. Furthermore, the invention relates to intermediate products obtained with this method.
Abstract: Plant-based medicament having tonicising action on smooth muscular organs which are atonic or have decreased tone. The medicament contains Iberis amara, preferably Iberis amara totalis (flowers, seeds, leaves, stalk and roots), in particular as a plant extract or its constituents, optionally together with one or more other constituents selected from the group consisting of Menthae piperitae, Matricariae, Carvi fructus, Melissae folium and Liquiritiae radix, as the sole carrier(s) of the activity. Methods of treating patients comprising administering the medicaments.
Abstract: The use of galacturonic acid and derivatives thereof for preparing a medicament for the treatment of hyperlipidaemia and/or atherosclerosis is described.
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of preparations of the plant Curcuma longa or other curcumin-containing plants, curcumin or curcumin derivatives for the prophylaxis and/or treatment of conditions associated with excessive formation of leucotrienes and/or prostaglandins and to the use of preparations of the plant Curcuma longa or other curcumin-containing plants, curcumin or curcumin derivatives for the production of medicaments for the prophylaxis and/or treatment of conditions associated with excessive formation of leucotrienes and/or prostaglandins.
