  • Publication number: 20100125966
Abstract: A floor care disk for a floor care machine such as a floor polishing machine includes a floor care pad mounted on a drive plate. The drive plate includes a stiff disk element and tongue-like tabs connected flexibly to a radially outer portion or rim of the disk element, and extending radially inwardly toward a radially inner portion or hub of the disk element. The radially inner free ends of the tongue-like tabs are free to flexibly deflect away from the plane of the disk element. The pad is mounted on the tabs and on the radially outer portion of the disk element. During rotational operation of the floor care disk, due to the arising centrifugal force acting on the center of mass of the rotating pad and tongue-like tabs, the pad and the tongue-like tabs are flexibly deflected away from the disk element and toward the floor surface, thereby deflecting the pad into osculating contact with the floor surface.

  • Patent number: 7503098
Abstract: A connection arrangement between a vacuum cleaner and a suction tool includes a pivot element pivotably connected to the suction tool and a rotation element rotatably coupled to the pivot element. A suction wand, hose, handle or other vacuum port of the vacuum cleaner is removably connected to a connection end of the rotation element. Coupling ends of the pivot and rotation elements are inserted one in the other, and respectively have circumferential grooves that form a circumferential channel therebetween. Plural partial ring segment elements are received in the circumferential channel to form a connection ring that rotatably secures the pivot and rotation elements. The ring segment elements are inserted into or removed from the channel through a selectively coverable opening in the rotation element or the pivot element. A catch cooperates with a detent to hold a vertically pivoted, rotationally centered rest position of the components.

  • Patent number: 7481630
Abstract: A housing for a hand held vacuum cleaner is so constructed that a suction motor mounting bracket which is enclosed by a lower housing section, is removably secured to an upper housing section. A suction coupling pipe section is either an integral part of or directly secured to the suction motor mounting bracket, so that forces introduced to a suction tool attached to the suction coupling pipe section are transmitted through the mounting bracket to the upper housing section thereby at least partly relieving the lower housing section from forces passing from the suction tool to the handle and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 7284298
Abstract: An exhaust filter unit is arranged outwardly surrounding at least a major portion of a housing of a vacuum cleaner. The dirt-laden incoming airflow is filtered through a primary filter, then blown by a suction motor unit into an annular exhaust air space between the vacuum cleaner housing and the exhaust filter unit. Thereby, the filtered air is exhausted in a diffused manner through the large surface area of the exhaust filter unit. Preferably, the exhaust filter unit has a cylindrical tubular configuration that completely externally surrounds a cylindrical portion of the vacuum cleaner housing.

  • Patent number: 7266861
Abstract: A brush roller accessory for a vacuum cleaner includes a main support roller and a power-driven brush roller rotatably arranged in a housing, and a spring-biased adjusting roller that adjustably protrudes from the housing to bear some of the total contact force of the accessory against a floor, to reduce or relieve the contact force exerted by the brush roller against the floor. The adjusting roller is rotatably mounted on a pivot lever, having a first end pivotally connected to the housing and a second end connected to a spring that biases the lever to pivot the adjusting roller outwardly from the housing. A rotary knob with several stop surfaces selects an upper limit on the pivot range of the lever and the adjustment height of the adjusting roller. A coupling link pivots the adjusting roller to a maximally protruding position to lift the brush roller into a parking position.

  • Patent number: 6486396
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner wand includes inner and outer relatively telescopable pipes, a cord magazine chamber on the outer pipe, a sheath tube connected to the inner pipe and slidably extending into the chamber, a slider guided slidably parallel to the sheath tube in the chamber, and a flexible electrical cord. The cord extends along inside the sheath tube, bends 180° as a fixed loop at an end of the sheath tube, extends back between the sheath tube and the slider, bends 180° as a movable loop through an opening in the slider, and extends between the slider and a sidewall of the chamber. Thereby the cord has an adjustable extended length corresponding to the selected telescoped length of the wand. The sliding sheath tube slides the cord, which in turn moves the slider, so that the cord remains kink-free.

  • Patent number: 6308360
Abstract: A floor care machine realized in the form of a floor polishing machine contains a driven pad, the height of which pad can be adjusted automatically to adjust the application pressure to take the characteristics of the floor into consideration. For this purpose, between the driving element and the driven element, there is a transmission element which forms a torque regulator. For this purpose, the driven element can be rotated with respect to the driving element opposite to the working direction of rotation and can also be displaced axially, whereby the transmission element with a clamping element automatically regulates the displacement and rotation, thereby acting as a torque regulator to regulate the height of the pad with respect to the floor as a function of the torque.
