Patent number: 5474407Abstract: A Drilling tool for metallic materials comprises a holder (1) having an axial clamping slot in which a plate-shaped drilling blade (2) is inserted and clamped against a limb (8) of the clamping slot by means of a threaded pin (3), which is provided with a head (21) and which engages in a bore (15) in the drilling blade (2) and in a bore (12) in said limb (8). The center axis (13) of the limb bore (12) is offset relative to the center axis (24) of the drilling blade bore (15). The mutually facing circumferential edges of the head (21) of the threaded pin and the bore (15) of the drilling blade is bevelled. A centering pin (11) is inserted in the holder (1) and engages in a centering slot (18) in that side (17) of the drilling blade (2), which is contacting the base surface (9) of the clamping slot (4) to center the drilling blade (2) with respect to the rotational axis (6) of the holder (1).Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1995Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Stellram GmbHInventors: Holger Rodel, Manfred Grunsky

Patent number: 4511294Abstract: A material removing tool includes an elongated shank having a rear end portion arranged to be driven by the motor of a boring or milling machine and a front end portion provided with a coaxial stub which is received in a socket between two legs of an adapter which carries the cutting implement. At least one of the legs has a radial hole which is in near register with a tapped bore of the stub. The shank portion of a screw, whose head bears against a conical surface surrounding a portion of the hole in the one leg, meshes with the threads in the tapped bore of the stub to urge the rear edge faces of the legs against complementary surfaces provided on two shoulders forming part of the front end portion of the shank. This enhances the resistance to bending stresses and prevents wobbling or vibration of the adapter relative to the shank.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1982Date of Patent: April 16, 1985Assignee: Stellram GmbHInventors: Manfred Grunsky, Reiner Sussmuth, Gunter Ischen

Patent number: 4500233Abstract: A rotary material removing tool has an elongated support whose rear end portion can receive torque from the motor of a boring or milling machine and whose front end portion has a front end face with a transverse recess for a carrier having in its front end face a transversely extending dovetailed guide groove for two elongated knife holders which are shiftable relative to each other and with reference to the carrier to select the distance between their knives. The support has two legs which flank the recess and bear against the carrier to hold the latter in abutment with the bottom surface in the recess and to deform elongated portions of the carrier into frictional engagement with adjacent portions of the two holders when the free ends of the legs are urged toward each other by a clamping screw.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1982Date of Patent: February 19, 1985Assignee: Stellram GmbHInventor: Dieter Dehn

Patent number: 4464088Abstract: A rotary material removing tool wherein an elongated rod supports a carrier for two elongated knife holders between two legs which flank the carrier and can be biased toward each other and against the carrier by a clamping screw extending transversely of the guide groove and at right angles to the axis of the rod. Those surfaces of the holders which abut against each other have elongated shallow recesses which surround the respective ends of the corresponding slots and receive a plate-like intercepting member having a centrally located hole for the shank of the clamping screw. The recesses extend to the inner ends of the respective holders and toward the knives which are mounted at the outer ends of such holders. The legs of the support close the outer ends of the slots, and the intercepting member serves to prevent penetration of chips, shavings and/or other foreign matter into those ends of the slots which are provided in the abutting surfaces of the holders.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1982Date of Patent: August 7, 1984Assignee: Stellram GmbHInventor: Dieter Dehn
