Patent number: 10414467Abstract: Disclosed is an anchor having a fluke, a shank that is connected to the fluke, and a coupling to attach the fluke to an anchor line or anchor chain, wherein the shank has two shank legs each having a straight shank plate with an outer surface that extend on the opposite sides of the plane of symmetry of the anchor and that diverge from the coupling towards the fluke, wherein the fluke has two straight penetration plates with a top surface on the opposite sides of the plane of symmetry of the anchor, wherein the orientation of the outer surfaces with respect to the top surfaces is specified by three angles under narrow ranges to provide excellent penetration properties and an excellent holding capacity.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2016Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: STEVLOS B.V.Inventors: David Peter Van Den Ende, Victor Maria Wilhelm Gerard Remmers

Patent number: 9150285Abstract: An anchor assembly (1) comprises a plate anchor element (2) mounted on an associated dynamic implanting follower (6) to facilitate dynamically embedding the plate anchor element (2) in a mooring bed below a body of water. The plate anchor element (2) has a tubular sleeve (20) which is slidably mounted on a shaft (8) of the implanting follower (6), and locates at an upper end of the implanting follower (6) which has a pointed penetrating tip (9) at a lower end of the shaft (8). Radial flukes (22) are mounted on the sleeve (20) in a cruciform configuration. A through-hole (3) is provided in one of the flukes (22) for attachment of a tether line. For deployment of the plate anchor element (2) the anchor assembly (1) is dropped from a height above the mooring bed, freefalling through the water and penetrating into the mooring bed. The implanting follower (6) is then retrieved leaving the plate anchor element (2) buried in the mooring bed.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2012Date of Patent: October 6, 2015Assignee: STEVLOS B.V.Inventors: Conleth Desmond O'Loughlin, Mark Damian Richardson

Patent number: 8468966Abstract: Anchor comprising a fluke which can be introduced into an anchoring ground in accordance with a direction of penetration by exerting a pulling force on an anchor line connected to the anchor, and a measuring coupling which during introduction of the fluke forms part of a force transfer between the anchor line and the fluke, wherein the measuring coupling is provided with a first coupling member that is connected to the fluke, a second coupling member that is connected to the anchor line, a hollow coupling bar that couples the coupling members to one another, wherein the coupling members in the longitudinal direction of the bar engage onto the coupling bar at different places in order to be able to deform it, and a measuring body extending through the hollow coupling bar and which at least at its ends is connected to the coupling bar in order to deform along with the coupling bar, wherein the measuring body is provided with deformation sensors for recording the deformation parameters of the coupling bar.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2009Date of Patent: June 25, 2013Assignee: Stevlos B.V.Inventors: David Peter Van Den Ende, Roderick Michael Ruinen
