  • Publication number: 20100051541
Abstract: A bioremediation method for accelerated biological degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in a sea ice-covered polar region comprising contacting the petroleum hydrocarbons with an inoculum. The inoculum includes a bacterial mixture, nutrients, and an environmentally friendly carrier material. The bacterial mixture includes a plurality of cold-adapted autochthonous bacterial strains, wherein each of the bacterial strains are active at an ambient temperature of ?3° C., and wherein each of the bacterial strains has a different temperature tolerance range, a different salinity tolerance range, a different degradation spectrum, and a different potential to emulsify oil. Bacteria of the bacterial strains are immobilized on the environmentally friendly carrier material.

  • Publication number: 20100020538
Abstract: A reflector emitter includes a combination reflector having at least one elliptical concave mirror shaped as an ellipsoid of revolution section having first and second focal points disposed outside and inside of the ellipsoid of revolution section, respectively. The reflector emitter includes at least one light source at the second focal point. The ellipsoid of revolution section is formed as an ellipsoid of revolution that is cut between its center and the first focal point in a longitudinal section plane and in a cross-sectional plane. An aperture is provided above an other concave mirror having at least one focal point that coincides with the first focal point of the ellipsoid of revolution section. The other concave mirror is formed as a hollow body cut in a sectional plane through its focal point. This sectional plane and the longitudinal section plane of the ellipsoid of revolution section share a common plane of reference and the concave mirrors have opposing faces.

  • Publication number: 20090246335
Abstract: A method for processing ovulated eggs of an aquatic animal into delicacy foods. Ovulated eggs are harvested without harmful intervention of the aquatic animal. The harvested ovulated eggs are exogenously treated in an aqueous solution by adding at least one signal transduction molecule. Accordingly the membrane of the egg is physiologically stabilized by ovoperoxidase activation. The signal transduction molecule is naturally occurring in the egg cell. The eggs are then preserved.

  • Patent number: 7587991
Abstract: A support device for cultivating macro organisms in marine waters consisting of first and second coplanar rings connected to each other by a plurality of radial support lines and provided between them with a plurality of cultivating lines arranged in substantially coaxial rings and connected to the support lines. The outer one of the first and second rings is held in a predetermined orientation by ropes of crow's foot arrangements connected to it from above and below the rings. Each crow's foot arrangement is provided with a ring coaxial with respect to the first and second rings and connected to the other by a support rope. One of the crow's foot rings is connected to a buoyancy means and the other one is connected to an anchoring device so that forces acting on the buoyancy or anchoring means are restricted to the support rope.

  • Publication number: 20090188906
Abstract: A high-temperature tube furnace for pyrolysis includes a twin-hole ceramic tube including a pyrolysis capillary concentrically arranged within a sintering heat tube which is concentrically arranged within a thermally insulated tube housing. At least one heating tube holding element that is electrically insulative and high-temperature resistant is provided and includes at least three pins disposed radially about the sintering heating tube. Each pin is mounted to the tube housing via a clamp in such a way that the pins are adjustable in the radial direction so that the sintering heating tube is removably disposed between the tips of the pins. The sintering heating tube is connected to a voltage source for applying a heating current to thereto.
