Abstract: A mattress arrangement, such as a bed arrangement (1), having adjustable firmness is disclosed. The mattress arrangement comprises an upper mattress (3) and a lower mattress (4) being arranged beneath said upper mattress (3). At least one side (41) of the lower mattress (4) is moveable in relation to an opposite side (42) of the lower mattress (4), the lower mattress (4) thereby being expandable into an expanded state, having a lower firmness, and compressible into a contracted state, having a higher firmness. A support layer (6) is arranged between the upper mattress (3) and the lower mattress (4), to partly support the upper mattress (3), and arranged overlying the at least one moveable side (41) of the lower mattress (4). Hereby, at least one compartment is formed beneath the upper mattress (3), wherein the compartment(s) is at least partly empty when the lower mattress (4) is in the contracted state and at least partly filled when the lower mattress (4) is in the expanded state.

Abstract: A spring mattress with longitudinal strings comprising a plurality of interconnected coil springs (1) enclosed in covers (2) is described, wherein a plurality of such parallel strings are arranged side by side and interconnected by surface attachment between abutting surfaces. Furthermore, a slit is provided between at least two springs located adjacent to one another within the same string, which slit allows an increased interjacent separation distance (SA) to be formed between, said adjacent springs. Also described are a method and a device, respectively, for manufacturing a corresponding mattress.

Abstract: A pocket mattress includes coil springs arranged as spring units, arranged successively in elongate strings, enclosed in a covering material forming pockets. A plurality of the strings are arranged side by side, the strings including a plurality of transverse seams arranged parallel to the longitudinal direction of the coil springs to separate the pockets. A middle portion of the transverse seams attaches at least a layer of covering material from either side of the spring unit to each other. At least some of the seams are back folded seams, in which the covering material proximate to an end portion of the back folded seams is back folded towards the middle portion of the transverse seams. As such, the back folded transverse seams each have at least one end portion attaching at least twice as many layers of covering material as in a corresponding transverse seam which is not back folded.

Abstract: A mattress arrangement, such as a bed arrangement, is disclosed, comprising an upper mattress and optionally an lower mattress. The mattresses are preferably pocket spring mattresses. A support structure is arranged beneath the upper mattress, and comprises at least one flexible elongate element arranged to extend between two holding elements arranged at opposite sides of at least one variable zone in the bed arrangement. A retraction device is further arranged to control the slack of said flexible elongate element(s) by controlling the length of the flexible elongate element(s) being provided between the holding elements. Hereby, the height and/or firmness of the bed arrangement is controlled in the variable zone(s).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable-size bed (10) comprising a mattress core (16) and a base (14), which base is adapted to support at least a portion of the mattress core, wherein the mattress core and base have adjustable widths or lengths and each of the mattress core and base is changeable between an expanded state and a contracted state corresponding to an expanded state and a contracted state of the bed, respectively, and wherein the bed further comprises a cover means adapted to provide covering over the mattress core in both the expanded state and the contracted state of the bed. The present invention also relates to a vehicle comprising such a variable-size bed.

Abstract: A spring mattress is disclosed including a plurality of strings interconnected side by side, each string including a plurality of continuous casings and each casing including a coil spring. Further, in at least one embodiment, at least one of the casings in at least one of the strings includes a plurality of stretch openings into the interior of the casing, wherein at least some of said stretch openings are displaced in relation to each other in a lengthwise direction of the spring. At least one embodiment of the present invention also relates to a method and a device for manufacturing of such a mattress, as well as to a bed adapted for such a mattress.

For at least one of the springs, casing material portions arranged at the ends of the spring are moved towards each other, through the spring, and connected to each other. The connecting lines are arranged at the side of the springs and, thus, between neighboring springs. The interconnected casing material portions are thus at the ends of the springs essentially free of other connections.

Abstract: A spring mattress for beds is disclosed. In at least one embodiment, the spring mattress includes a plurality of strings which are interconnected side by side and include a continuous casing material with a plurality of separate pockets with coil springs enclosed therein. Moreover the casing material for at least some pockets is at least substantially airtight, thus providing a resistance to air being pressed out when the springs of the mattress are loaded, which, when subjected to a uniform load during a transition period, results in a gradually increasing depression of the spring to its depressed state. This results in a comfortable mattress, into which the user sinks gradually and which thus is comfortable and safe and allows the user to move easily. A corresponding method and device for manufacturing such a mattress are also described.

Abstract: A spring mattress is described, including a plurality of strings interconnected side by side. Each string includes a plurality of continuous casings and, enclosed therein, coil springs. Moreover, between at least some of the springs in at least one of the strings a slot is arranged which opens towards the upper or lower side of the mattress. It is preferred for the springs between which the slot is arranged to be separated with an intermediate separation distance, which separation distance exceeds about 10% of the diameter of the largest turn of the adjoining springs. In addition, it is preferred for the casing portions to be arranged at the ends of the spring to be moved towards each other, through the spring, and connected to each other by at least one connecting device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a spring mattress having two superposed layers of springs, which are enclosed in covers, and a method of manufacturing a mattress of this kind. The characterizing features of the invention are that the springs of the upper layer are positioned essentially straight above the corresponding springs in the lower layer, and that the covers are joined together in such a manner that the springs in the lower layer are affected at least to some extent by the spring above, in the upper layer, independently of neighboring springs.

Abstract: The invention relates to a spring mattress comprising a plurality of interconnected coil spring elements, whereby the mattress includes at least two layers extending in parallel with the plane on the mattress and each exhibiting different properties of resilience. The feature characterizing the mattress in accordance with the invention are that the same coil springs extend across both the layers and that these coil springs exhibit a higher degree of bias only along part of their extension, thus forming the layers exhibiting different properties of resilience.
