Patent number: 6669081Abstract: A shipping and display case for transporting product to a display and vending location, comprising a single blank, having width, length and bottom panels therein, and further having internal divider panels formed thereon. Upon folding and gluing of the case, and subsequent articulation into a raised state, two internal dividers are created that also provide structural support for the case in stacking circumstances.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2002Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Assignee: Stone Container Corp.Inventors: Daryl Hearne, Jason E. Patent number: 6270052Abstract: A mold is provided for forming a concrete column having at least one recess formed therein, as molded. The mold includes a tubular housing having an inner surface and a recess form having an inner and an outer surface. The recess form is mountable in the housing at a desired location on the inner surface of the mold housing. The recess form is preferably generally a ring The ring's outer surface corresponds to the shape of the housing's inner surface so that, when the ring is mounted in the housing, there are substantially no gaps between the outer surface of the ring and the inner surface of the housing. The ring has a slice through it, so that the ring may be expanded and pried out of the groove or recess molded in the column once the cement has set. Preferably, the slice is off-set from a radial line drawn through the ring. The ring is secured in place in the mold using screws.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1999Date of Patent: August 7, 2001Assignee: Smurfit Stone Container Corp.Inventors: Earl Mayo, Richard Cusick, Mark Huneke, George Langstaff

Patent number: 5941384Abstract: A display carton and motorized implement arrangement is disclosed. The display arrangement includes an operator carriable motorized implement and a display carton having display and access apertures. Ideally, in its packaged state within the display carton, the motorized implement is substantially assembled so that the end user may easily and efficiently utilize the implement without extensive subsequent assembly or set-up. The display carton has a main body and upper and lower body portions. The display carton substantially entirely contains the implement and allows the display arrangement to be stably maintained on a flat surface. The main body includes a front, rear, and side panels. The front panel includes a pair of display apertures to allow access to the retained implement at the point of sale. The front panel further includes a central panel portion, spaced between the pair of display apertures.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1998Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Assignees: The Toro Company, Stone Container Corp.Inventors: Patrick Harold Schonhardt, Charles E. Patent number: 4738750Abstract: A system and method for converting pulp and paper mill waste water into a decolored, neutral pH effluent and a solid suitable for use as fuel in a furnace. The treatment system is used following primary and secondary treatment of pulp and paper mill waste waters typically found in the industry. After secondary biological treatment, the waste waters are pumped to a coagulation tank where the waste water is brought in contact with a polyamine coagulant which coagulates lignins, degraded sugars, and other compounds which typically discolor this water. The coagulation particles are increased in size by addition of an acrylamide polymer in a flocculation tank to improve the hydrophilic characteristics of the coagulant. The waste water is then mixed a dissolved air and water solution under pressure. Upon dissolution of the dissolved air at atmospheric pressure the air is absorbed by the flocculated matter in the aeration tank and the flocculated matter is caused to migrate towards the area of less pressure, i.e.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1986Date of Patent: April 19, 1988Assignee: Stone Container Corp.Inventor: Charles S. Patent number: 4372446Abstract: A pad for protection of crated objects, such as appliances, furniture or the like is formed from an integral blank of corrugated paperboard. In one embodiment, a corner pad can be formed having multiple-ply walls and a multiple-ply base including two leg formations joined to form an L-shaped structure in which one of the leg formations includes a wedge or tongue which is inserted between adjacent plies of the second leg formation to achieve self-locking of the corner pad.In a second embodiment, the same blank can be assembled into an edge protective pad.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1981Date of Patent: February 8, 1983Assignee: Stone Container Corp.Inventor: Matthew S.
