    Abstract: A method for detecting texts included in an image is disclosed. The method includes steps of: (a) detecting at least one text candidate in an inputted image by referring to feature values of pixels in the inputted image; (b) classifying (i) the detected text candidate as a strong text or a non-strong text by referring to a comparison result between a first threshold value and a first feature value and (ii) the text candidate classified as the non-strong text as a weak text or a non-text by referring to a comparison result between a second threshold value and a second feature value; and (c) determining whether to classify the weak text as the strong text by referring to information on the strong text and information on the weak text.

The method includes steps of: acquiring features from positive images and negative images of the classification tree; and deciding a specific feature ID and a specific threshold by which a minimum classification error is derived by referring to a histogram of features of positive images and that of features of negative images if a number of images classified to a k-th node is larger than that classified to a brother node of the k-th node as a result of classifying images acquired with respect to a parent node of the k-th node based on a determined feature ID and a determined threshold for the parent node and then allocating the specific feature ID and the specific threshold in nodes, which have depth equal to the k-th node of the classification tree.

The method includes the steps of: setting calculation blocks, each of which includes one or more pixels in an image, acquiring respective average values of the pixels included in the respective calculation blocks, and matching information on the respective calculation blocks with the respective average values or respective adjusted values derived from the respective average values; referring to information on windows, each of which includes information on one or more reference blocks which are different in at least either positions or sizes and information on corresponding relations between the calculation blocks and the average values or the adjusted values, to thereby assign the respective average values or the respective adjusted values to the respective reference blocks; and acquiring necessary information by using the respective average values or the respective adjusted values assigned to the respective reference blocks.
