  • Patent number: 8016195
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and an arrangement for the verification of individually presented items of mail provided with individually unique machine-readable identification codes, where the identification code of a presented item of mail is read and the identification code that has been read is checked against machine-readable information about intended items of mail and their status, whereby the current item of mail is a) removed if the identification code is not present in the intended items of mail or if it is illegible, and b) the status of the current item of mail is checked against the machine-readable information about intended items of mail and their status in order to determine whether the current item of mail has previously been delivered. If the current item of mail has previously been delivered, the current item of mail is removed.

  • Patent number: 7255030
Abstract: The present invention relates running webs which have been printed in a high-speed printer. A method and a device are provided for longitudinal cuffing of a running, unseparated web in two web portions, wherein the unseparated web (2) is printed in a high-speed printer (1) and wherein the unseparated web (2) is cut longitudinally in two web portions (2a, 2b). The unseparated web (2) is brought to run between a first and a second edge support (8, 9) such that longitudinal outer edges (2d, 2e), extending in the running direction (T), of the unseparated web (2) can cooperate with the edge supports (8, 9). If the width (B) of the unseparated web (2) varies and/or changes, this is read and the second edge support (9) and the cuffing means (7) are continuously controlled to move in a lateral direction (S) relative to the running direction (T) such that the unseparated web (2) is cut in two web portions (2a, 2b) with widths (B2a, B2b) which are adapted to each other.

  • Patent number: 6978994
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for lateral movement of sheets (2) during transport thereof to a stacking device (11) such that the sheets (2) or stacks of sheets occupy laterally displaced positions relative to each other in the stacking device (11). A high-speed printer (6) is provided for printing the sheets (2) or a continuous web which is then cut to sheets (2). A vacuum generating device has vacuum means (12, 13) with vacuum openings located within vacuum holes (20) in conveyor belts (14), and is provided to generate a vacuum in said vacuum openings and vacuum holes (20) that said conveyor belts (14) can grip or engage and transport the sheets (2).

  • Patent number: 6932339
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transport device for transporting sheets (2) in a plant comprising a high-speed printer which is provided for printing the sheets (2) or a continuous web which is cut to sheets (2). The transport device includes at least one vacuum means (9b) having at least one vacuum opening (9c, 9d) and at least one conveyor belt (9a) with vacuum holes (9e) which communicates with the vacuum opening (9c, 9d), and a vacuum generating device (VA) for generating a vacuum in the vacuum opening (9c, 9d) of the vacuum means (9b) and in the vacuum holes (9e) of the conveyor belt (9a) such that said conveyor belt (9a) can engage and transport the sheets (2). The vacuum generating device comprises a compressor-air generating device (9f) from which compressed air is fed or supplied to at least one ejector (9g) such that a jet (D) of compressed air therein generates a vacuum in the vacuum openings (9c, 9d) in the vacuum means (9b) and the vacuum holes (9e) in the conveyor belts (9a).

  • Patent number: 5857392
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cutting device for cutting continuous webs, whereby a draw roller (29) with pulling surfaces (42) and a rotating cutting means (33) are rotatable by separate drive units (28 and 32 respectively) so that the speed of rotation of the draw roller (29) and the rotatable cutting means (33) can be varied relative to each other, whereby the relationship between the transport speed of the web and the speed of rotation of the rotatable cutting means (33) can be varied.

  • Patent number: 5783265
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sign, preferably a registration sign for vehicles, which sign (2) includes a portion or member (16) consisting of a portion of a film web (6) or of a row of separate film portions, whereby said portion (16) is provided with information (3), preferably registration symbols or characters for vehicles, while toner material (25) has been applied thereon by electronically variable application in an electronic printer. For being able to manufacture this sign at low costs and by means of a simple manufacturing method, the toner material is applied on a surface of said portion (16), preferably a surface (23) reflecting light from headlamps, by means of an electronic printer in the form of an ionographic printer (24) wherein the toner material is fixed on the surface of said portion (16) with pressure by a cold pressure and fixing method. • Patent number: 5772828
Abstract: In a simple and low cost method for making a sign, such as a vehicle registration sign, indicia are formed by toner material applied by an electronically controllable printer to a portion of a film web or to one of a row of separate film portions, the surface of which web portion is preferably one reflecting light from vehicle headlamps. The printer is an ionographic one wherein the toner material is fixed on the surface of the web portion with pressure and in a cold state. The printed web portion is then combined with other parts including a transparent front plate adhesively bonded to the web portion and an injection moulded plastic frame to protect the web portion from mechanical damage and to seal it against injury from dirt and moisture.
