Patents Assigned to STRATEC BIOMEDICAL AG
  • Publication number: 20140209677
Abstract: A structure for holding sample-containing receptacles includes a cover with holes formed therein through which the receptacles can be accessed with a substance transfer mechanism, such as a robotic pipettor. When the transfer mechanism is inserted into and then withdrawn from a receptacle, a string of viscous material may be suspended from the mechanism. A viscous string removal element adjacent each opening engages the string of viscous material and dislodges the string from the mechanism when the mechanism moves in a prescribed path with respect to the removal element.

  • Patent number: 8689625
Abstract: A device and a method are used for measuring the filling level of a fluid for monitoring a dispense/aspirate process in reaction vessels, including at least one cavity for dispensing and aspirating the fluid, where the cavity is provided with a filling level sensor whose signals, transmitted to an evaluation unit, are evaluated to determine the filling level, the at least one cavity is assigned a receiving body which is closed at the bottom and is separated from the cavity for receiving the fluid, the filling level sensor is at least one thermistor extending along the outside of a wall of the receiving body without coming in contact with the fluid, the evaluation unit evaluates the temperature influence of the thermistor in dispensing, aspirating and in retention of the fluid in the receiving body to detect the filling level, in this way the process monitoring in washing the reaction vessels is improved.

  • Patent number: 8685322
Abstract: The invention comprises an apparatus 10 and a method 100 for purifying biomolecules 28. Magnetizable particles 35 and a group of magnetizable pins 40 are used for binding biomolecules 28 to the magnetizable particles 35 using a binding buffer 30b, and for transferring the magnetizable particles 35 forming a particle-biomolecule complex 36. The apparatus 10 comprises an incubation unit 60 that allows for an upscaling of a maximum volume of a sample material. Furthermore the apparatus 10 comprises counter magnets 50 which are arranged on cavities 20. Solutions 30 comprising the biomolecules 28 and the magnetizable particles 35 are disposed in the cavities. The use of counter magnets 50 improves the quality of an eluate. Furthermore the invention comprises a system 800 and a method 900 for a diagnostically purifying of biomolecules 28.

  • Patent number: 8454825
Abstract: A rod assembly for the extraction of magnetizable particles from solutions is described. The rod assembly includes at least one guide element. A rod element is insertable into the at least one guide element and moveable in a direction substantially parallel to the at least one guide element. A magnet element is moveable to a distal magnet element position; wherein the distal magnet element position is located on a distal end section of the at least one guide element; wherein the at least one guide element includes an opening at a distal end. A method for the extraction of magnetizable particles from solutions is also described, as well as a magnet element for the extraction of magnetizable particles from solutions.

  • Publication number: 20120128451
Abstract: Systems for effecting transfer of reaction receptacles between modules of an instrument for performing multi-step analytical procedures and for adjusting for variations in the positions of such modules includes a receptacle carrier supported on a track on which the carrier translates between different modules located adjacent to the track. The carrier includes a receptacle distribution head supported on a receptacle carrier carriage. The distribution head includes a receptacle moving mechanism adapted to move receptacles into and out of the distribution head and into and out of a module. The carriage is engaged with the track and adapted for translation along the track. Drive systems effect powered translation of the carriage, powered elevation and rotation of the distribution head, and powered movement of receptacles into and out of the distribution head. A transfer position locating system automatically determines a receptacle transfer position of the receptacle carrier with respect to each module.
