Patents Assigned to STRATEC BIOMEDICAL Systems AG
  • Patent number: 8394344
Abstract: An indicator for enabling an analytical instrument to positively detect the presence of a vial in respective vial-receiving rack position regardless of whether the vial is oriented in a manner necessary for a code reader to read a code printed on the vial. Translation of a leaf spring upon insertion of a vial into a rack position causes a flag to obscure a code provided adjacent the rack position. An instrument into which the rack is installed interprets the failure of the code reader to detect this code as positive indication that a vial is disposed within the respective rack position.

  • Patent number: 7976794
Abstract: A positioning device is provided for positioning pipettes in medical-technical applications including at least one pipetting apparatus with at least one pipette as well as several drive units for positioning a pipette tip and for moving it over a working area and transversely to a working area, a sliding carriage that is moveable transversely to the working area supports the pipette, at least one pump drive with at least one pump and at least one pump chamber is provided for aspirating or dispensing a medium, such that by providing the at least one pump drive with pump and at least one pump chamber integrated in the sliding carriage that is moveable transversely to the working area, the design of the positioning device becomes compact and precise pipetting is achieved.

  • Patent number: 7916299
Abstract: The device and the method are used for optical detection of at least one phase transition between at least two media, which are taken into a line and/or dispensed from the line by an intake and/or dispensing device. A light-emitting transmitter emits light across and onto the line at a measurement point provided for this purpose. A receiver receives the emitted light, which is influenced by media in the line, to form reception signals. At least one waveguide, which is arranged up to the measurement point on the probe, is provided between the transmitter and/or the receiver and the measurement point (M). Due to the fact that the waveguide is arranged in parallel to the line at least in the area near the probe and at least one deflection lens is provided in the area of the measurement point to deflect the light emitted and/or the light to be detected, a phase boundary or state can be detected, and the dead volume is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100288705
Abstract: A rod assembly for the extraction of magnetizable particles from solutions is described. The rod assembly includes at least one guide element. A rod element is insertable into the at least one guide element and moveable in a direction substantially parallel to the at least one guide element. A magnet element is moveable to a distal magnet element position; wherein the distal magnet element position is located on a distal end section of the at least one guide element; wherein the at least one guide element includes an opening at a distal end. A method for the extraction of magnetizable particles from solutions is also described, as well as a magnet element for the extraction of magnetizable particles from solutions.

  • Patent number: 7694591
Abstract: During a method of evaluating a dosing operation, carried out by means of a dosing pump, for dosing a liquid medium in a vessel, filled at least partially with a gas, a pressure profile of the gas, present in the vessel, is detected at least periodically during the dosing operation. This pressure profile is compared with a desired value profile, prescribed for a control unit of the dosing pump, of the pump rate or pump output defining the dosing operation, and an evaluation result is issued in dependence on the comparison. In such case, the dosing operation is evaluated to be faulty or in need of correction when it is determined that the detected pressure profile over time with the prescribed pump rate or prescribed pump output lies outside a desired value range. A plurality of error conditions for the evaluation of the dosing operation are used, which consider the pressure development in a time window after a prescribed change in the defining pump rate or pump output.

  • Publication number: 20090176308
Abstract: The invention comprises an apparatus 10 and a method 100 for automatically lysing, extracting and purifying biomolecules 28. As the central technology for purifying the biomolecules magnetizable particles 35 and an adapted magnet device 40 are used for binding and transferring the particles 35. The apparatus 10 comprises a highly efficient incubation unit 60 with options for upscaling the maximum sample amount. Furthermore the apparatus 10 in particular comprises a group of magnetizable pins 40 as transport magnets and furthermore counter magnets 50 which are arranged on the cavities 20, in which solutions 30 with the biomolecules 28 to be lysed and magnetizable particles 35 are disposed. The use of counter magnets 50 improves the quality of the eluate. Furthermore the invention comprises a fully automatic system 800 and a method 100 for controlling the process steps and the selection of the reagents and the aids (e.g.
