Patents Assigned to Straub Federnfabrik AG
  • Patent number: 5310223
Abstract: An elastomer sealing sleeve 32 of C-shaped cross section is disposed in a contractible housing 10 and includes sealing lips 36 which extend towards each other and which, upon the contraction of the housing 10 and the simultaneous upending of the sleeve 32, are brought to bear snugly against the pipe wall 55. The front face 38 of the sleeve 32 is divided up into two oppositely directed conical surfaces 58, 60, which are embraced by a supporting ring 40 of V-shaped cross section. The inner flank 62 of the supporting ring is positioned between the radially inner surface 58 and the clamping ring 20 supported in the throat of the housing 10 and, in so doing, bridges the recesses 26 in the clamping ring 20. The outer flank 63 of the supporting ring supports the sleeve 32 in the area of the radially outer surface 60. This pipe coupling is particularly simple in its construction and is suitable for high operating temperatures and for large temperature changes.

  • Patent number: 5280969
Abstract: A pipe coupling having an elastomer sealing sleeve which is approximately C-shaped in cross-section has a cylindrical housing which is split in the longitudinal direction, and which defines inwardly bent end walls and can be constricted like a pipe clip by means of a closure having tensioning screws, in which arrangement the sleeve, which is enclosed at the end faces and at the circumference by the housing and by a metal insert sheet bridging the housing gap and is approximately C-shaped in cross-section, is compressed in the circumferential direction and is brought to bear against the pipes to be coupled. Sliding rings, which are compressible in the circumferential direction, are located between the end faces of the sleeve and the end walls of the housing. Upon assembly of the coupling, these sliding rings are brought to bear against the outer walls of the pipes and form a sliding seat with the latter.

  • Patent number: 5280970
Abstract: An elastomeric sealing sleeve 6 is enclosed by an annular housing 1 which is split longitudinally and can be drawn together in the peripheral direction by means of a clamping screw 22. The clamping screw 22 passes with clearance through two U-shaped clamping members 16, 17 which are accommodated in clamping brackets 12, 13 fastened to the housing 1. The clamping members 16, 17 are supported with the ends of their legs on flat wall sections 12a, 13a of the clamping brackets 12, 13. The head 24 as well as a nut 25 of the clamping screw 22 bear against arched supporting surfaces 20a of the clamping members 16, 17. While the housing 1 is being drawn together, the clamping members 16, 17 can move relative to the shank 23 of the clamping screw 22, in the course of which the screw head 24 and the nut 25 can roll on the arched outer surface 20a. The screw shank 23 is therefore subjected to little or no bending stress.

  • Patent number: 5273322
Abstract: A pipe coupling includes a contractible housing 10, which receives an elastomer sealing sleeve 32 of C-shaped cross section, having sealing lips 36 extending towards each other. A meander-like spring ring 44, which is U-shaped in cross section and is provided with slots 74, is inserted in to the respective annular groove 42 in order to support the sealing lip 36 against the sleeve bar 34. Upon the contraction of the housing 10, the sleeve 32 is upended in the peripheral direction and the sealing lips 36 are brought to bear snugly against the pipe wall 55. At the same time, the spring ring 44 contracts as a result of a decrease in the width of the slots 74. The sealing lip 36 is supported by the spring ring 44 over a large area, and the flowing of material of the sleeve 32 in and through the slots 74 is prevented. The spring leg 68 projecting over the sealing lip 36 prevents any sticking of the torus 56 to the sleeve bar 34.

  • Patent number: 5137305
Abstract: A pipe coupling has a cylindrical housing which is split in the longitudinal direction and has inwardly bent end walls and a steel insert sheet of analogous design bridging the gap in the housing. With the aid of a closure with tensioning screws, the housing can be constricted in the manner of a pipe clip, such that a sealing sleeve positioned between the housing and a pipe is compressed in the circumferential direction and brought to bear on the pipes to be sealed off. The closure is offset in the circumferential direction with respect to the housing gap, and the end section of the housing projecting through the region of the tensioning screws is overlapped by a slideway anchored on the other end section. By this means, dimensional stability is increased without increasing the wall thickness, or the constrictability of the housing is guaranteed despite an increased wall thickness.
