Patent number: 8900257Abstract: Systems, devices, and processes for aspirating, fragmenting and extracting removable material from hollow bodies. A guide wire (11) is inserted into the hollow body (1) via an opening. Material is removed by means of a reducing catheter (3) having a working head (6) with stator (8) and rotor (9) that is connected to a feed screw (10). The stator (8) has a lateral inlet opening (8a) which is formed as two circular holes arranged in axial succession. Material forced into the inlet openings (8a) is sheared and/or fragmented. A flexible sleeve (7) serves to discharge the ablated material. Prior to this, a sheathing catheter (4) is inserted into the hollow body (1) until in front of the material to be removed. The cross-section of the hollow body (1) is occluded by the sheathing catheter (4), preventing detached fragments from being accidentally washed away.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2012Date of Patent: December 2, 2014Assignee: Straub Medical AGInventor: Mathias Heller

Patent number: 8568432Abstract: The invention relates to a catheter for aspirating, fragmenting and removing extractable material from hollow bodies, in particular thrombi and emboli from blood vessels, with a working head, which is arranged at the distal end of the catheter, is axially displaceable along a guide wire, independently thereof, and comprises at least one lateral opening. The catheter comprises a flexible feed screw which has a distal end and a proximal end and which can be rotated at a speed of rotation by means of a rotary drive of a drive unit remote from the working head. A flexible tube which surrounds the feed screw and is connected to the working head removes the material or the detached thrombi and emboli fragments. The feed screw is designed as a shearing cutting tool which cooperates with the opening in the working head in order to size-reduce and remove the materials or aspirated and/or detached thrombi and emboli which penetrate between the peripheral edges of the feed screw and edges of the openings.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2009Date of Patent: October 29, 2013Assignee: Straub Medical AG.Inventor: Immanuel Straub

Patent number: 8114106Abstract: Catheter for aspiration, fragmentation and removal of removable material from hollow bodies, in particular of thrombi and emboli from human blood vessels, comprising a working head, a flexible transport screw, a flexible tube, and a cutting tool. The working head is independently displaceable along a guide wire, is arranged at the distal end of the catheter, and has at least one lateral opening. The flexible transport screw can be rotated at a distance by means of a rotary drive of a drive unit. The flexible tube surrounds the transport screw, is connected to the working head, and is intended for removing the detached thrombi and emboli fragments. The transport screw forms a shearing cutting tool in cooperation with the lateral opening of the working head, in order to comminute the detached thrombi and emboli between peripheral borders of the transport screw and borders of the lateral opening.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2011Date of Patent: February 14, 2012Assignee: Straub Medical AGInventor: Immanuel Straub

Patent number: 5876414Abstract: The catheter connected to a rotary drive mechanism has, at its front end, a cutting tool which consists of a stator and rotor. Cutting edges arranged on the circumference of the rotor and stator interact in a shearing action. The detached deposits are conveyed through a tubular sheath and into a collection container via a discharge chamber. A drive shaft which is arranged inside the tubular sheath, and which connects the rotary drive mechanism to the rotor, is designed as a conveyor screw and is used for the conveying. A rotary catheter of this kind is used for carefully removing and withdrawing blood clots and stenoses from narrowed blood.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1997Date of Patent: March 2, 1999Assignee: Straub Medical AGInventor: Immanuel Straub
