Abstract: A method and system for optimizing the delivery of content items over a network are provided. The method includes intercepting a request sent from a first node to retrieve a content item from a web source, the request includes information related the web source; extracting from the request a pointer to the web source and requested content item; identifying using the pointer at least one additional node that has previously requested the content item from the web source; selecting one of the at least one additional node as a second node for providing the content item to the first node; fetching the content item from the second node; and enabling a display of the content item on the first node.

Abstract: A method and mobile computing device for auto-playing a video clip within a web environment of a mobile computing device are provided. The method comprises including an auto-play script in a webpage downloaded to the web environment, wherein the web environment is disabled to auto-play video clips; and executing the auto-play script within the web environment, wherein the execution of the auto-play script causes at least: receiving the video clip from an external source and automatically playing the video clip in the web environment.

The method comprises: monitoring user interactions with a video content item; generating at least one abandonment metric based on the monitored user interactions, wherein each abandonment metric represents a feature associated with abandonment of the video content item; and generating an abandonment profile including the at least one abandonment metric.

Abstract: A system and method for optimizing content delivery via native applications. The method comprises: intercepting a request for a content item existing in a web source over a network, wherein the request is intercepted from a user device; analyzing the intercepted request to extract a pointer to the web source; analyzing the web source to identify at least one content node communicatively connected to the network, wherein each of the at least one identified content node provides a more efficient delivery of the content item than the web source; causing the user device to select a content node of the at least one identified content node; and causing the user device to retrieve the content item via the selected content node.
