  • Patent number: 9763676
Abstract: A surgical blade (180) designed for use with an acetabular cup remover (30). The blade includes a body (182) from which teeth (190) extend distally forward. The body and teeth are disposed around the section of a sphere. On each side of the longitudinal axis of the blade body there is an outer tooth and at least two inner teeth. The teeth are further shaped so that one each side of the longitudinal axis through the blade body there are at least two adjacent inner teeth that have rake surfaces located along axes that, extending from the outer surface of the blade body to the inner surface of the blade body, do not intersect.

  • Patent number: 9526508
Abstract: A bur with features that minimize the application of substantially identical forces to the tissue against which the bur is applied. One of these features is a single groove located in a single one of the flutes. The groove is formed in the flute so as to be spaced proximally away from the distal end tip of the bur head. Another feature is that, adjacent the distal end tip of the bur head, the clearance surfaces of the flutes extend outwardly different distances from the longitudinal axis through the bur head. Another feature is that the flutes extend in a helical pattern around the bur head and the angle of the helix varies along the longitudinal axis of the bur head.

  • Patent number: 9439655
Abstract: A surgical sagittal and a saw blade cartridge. The saw has a head to which the blade cartridge is releasably mounted and a clamping assembly that releasably hold the cartridge to the head. The blade cartridge includes a blade bar, a blade head mounted to the bar and at least one drive rod that actuates the blade head. A rib projects from the blade bar to stiffen the cartridge. The rib extends over the blade bar so as to extend both proximally and distally relative to where the clamp assembly bears against the blade bar. The rib reduces skiving of the cartridge when a load is applied to either the top or bottom surface of the blade bar.

  • Patent number: 9179923
Abstract: The bur includes a shaft to which a bur head is attached. The bur head includes a plurality of flutes. Each flute at least has a rake surface, a cam surface and a cutting edge. The rake surface extends radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis of the head. The rake surfaces define the flute cutting edge (38). The associated cam surface curves away from the rake surface. One or more ribs extend radially outwardly from the cam surface.

  • Publication number: 20140202980
Abstract: Liquid container with a predetermined break point (4), which is covered by an elastomer septum (3). The container forms a hollow body (10) made of a single material that is compatible with critical liquids such as medicines. The elastomer septum (3) and the predetermined break point (4) can be pierced by a hollow needle (51) in order to withdraw liquid from the container.

  • Publication number: 20130264749
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate generally to preparing models of three-dimensional structures. In particular, a model of a three-dimensional structure constructed of porous geometries is prepared. A component file including a porous CAD volume having a predefined portion of a boundary. A space including the porous CAD volume is populated with unit cells overlapping the predefined portion of the boundary. The unit cells are populated with porous geometries having a plurality of struts having nodes on each end. At least a first strut overlaps the predefined portion of the boundary and has a length, a first node outside the porous CAD volume, and a second node inside the porous CAD volume. All struts entirely outside the porous CAD volume are removed. After removal of the struts entirely outside the porous CAD volume, each of the remaining struts is connected to a node at each end thereof.

  • Publication number: 20130211535
Abstract: A femoral prosthesis has a stem part and a head part, in which the stem part has a body section for location in the femur of a patient and a neck section including a trunion or spigot. The head part has a bearing surface formed as part of a sphere and a reverse side. The bearing surface has a polar axis extending through a center of the sphere formed thereby. A bore is provided in the reverse side adapted to receive the spigot wherein the bore comprise a bore axis, and in which the bore axis is oblique to the polar axis.

  • Patent number: 8460298
Abstract: A surgical bur including a shaft with a head on the distal end of the shaft. A number of flutes extend outwardly from the head, each flute having a rake surface and a clearance surface. On some flutes the rake and clearance surfaces meet to form the flute cutting edges. Other flutes have relief surfaces between the rake and cutting surfaces. On these flutes, the cutting edges are the edges where the rake and relief surfaces meet. The flutes are further designed to have rake angles that are less negative, than the flutes without the relief surfaces. The flutes are radially spaced apart around the head such that between any three adjacent flutes, the first and second flutes are spaced apart a first angle; the second and third flutes are spaced apart a second angle different from the first angle.

  • Publication number: 20130060252
Abstract: A surgical sagittal saw blade assembly formed that includes a static bar, an oscillating blade head and at least one drive rod that reciprocates to oscillate the blade head. The bar is formed from two plates. A boss is pouch formed to extend up from one of the plates. The boss serves as the static pivot point around which the blade head oscillates. When the plates are secured together to form the bar, the top of the boss is welded to the inner surface of the second plate.

  • Patent number: 7744616
Abstract: A sagittal saw blade wherein the teeth are arranged so that relative to the teeth located closer to the outer sides of the blade, the inner located teeth are located closer to the proximal end of the blade. The blade is further formed to have an opening between at least two of the teeth that extends proximally rearward. The opening increases in width as the opening extends proximally along the length of the blade. The opening opens into a void space that functions as a chip catchment space.
