  • Patent number: 6674829
Abstract: A neutron radiation installation for treatment of different types of cancer tumours, comprising a source of neutrons (11), like a nuclear reactor or an accelerator dependent source of radiation, a conventional filter (14) for reducing the radiation energy to a suitable level for radiation treatment of cancer tumours, having low energetic neutron beams of an energy of between 1 eV and 40 keV, or preferably between 1 keV and 20 keV, and a radiation tube (22) out of which radiation beams are emitted towards a patient (10) having a cancer tumour (23), whereby an optimum radiation is obtained at a distance of between 50 and 100 cm from the output surface of the conventional filter (14), and in which the installation comprises an additional radiation filter (21) mounted between the conventional filter (14) and the output of the radiation tube, which additional filter is of a material which filters off neutrons in the epithermic spectrum from low energetic neutron beams up to an energy of about 1 keV, in particular

  • Patent number: 5213587
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the refining of a raw gas produced from a carbonaceous material by means of a gasification process, refining taking place in a secondary stage separated from the gasifier. In order to reduce the gas contents of tar in the form of organic compounds condensible at lower temperatures, such as ambient temperatures, and of ammonia, the refining is carried out in a secondary stage being a fast circulating fluidized bed, the bed material of which at least mainly being an active material in the form of a material that is catalytic for tar and ammonia conversion, whereby a catalytic conversion of tar and ammonia contained in the raw gas is obtained. In order to decrease the content of hydrogen chloride in the gas, an active material that also can absorb chloride is used.

  • Patent number: 5073333
Abstract: A method of decontaminating radio nuclide-contaminated corrosion products, which are sparingly soluble in acid, from primary system surfaces in reactors of the pressurized water reactor type and the boiler reactor type with hydrogen dosage and similar, by oxidation and concurrent dissolution in an acidic decontamination solution of the acid soluble corrosion products obtained by said oxidation. The characteristic feature of the method is that said oxidation is performed with Ce.sup.4+ ions, ozone and chromic acid in the presence of perhalogen acid, preferably perchloric acid, at a pH below 3.
