  • Patent number: 6395041
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for sizing a yarn sheet, the yarn sheet is passed over rollers through a wetting unit and a following roller nip that reduces the moisture content to a selected level. The wetted yarn sheet then passes through a sizing unit and over rollers forming a nip to reduce the sizing content to a desired level. The rollers of the wetting unit and the rollers of the sizing unit are in close proximity to minimize the reach of the yarn sheet there between and thereby minimize the heat loss in the yarn sheet. The reach is covered by a cover having a heater that extends over the yarn sheet reach to maintain the yarn sheet at a desired temperature as it enters the sizing unit. The temperature of the wetting agent bath in the wetting unit is 65°-95° C., with the temperature of the wetting agent being approximately 5°-10° C. higher than the temperature of the sizing agent bath.

  • Patent number: 6195856
Abstract: Method for warping with a cone sectional warper that winds up the threads (10) in bands on a sectional warping drum (11), in which a support (12) for a thread guide comb is displaced parallel to the warping drum (11) by a forward feed drive, corresponding to the increasing thickness of the wind and predetermined warping data, with the first band being sensed during a measurement phase by a roll (15) under contact pressure and with the sensed displacement travel being recorded as a function of the number of rotations of the warping drum (11), and with the roll being drawn back and pressing on the wind lap after the measurement phase upon further winding in accordance with a mean value obtained during the measurement phase.

  • Patent number: 6109557
Abstract: Winding device for threads from V-creels, from the bobbins of which the threads are drawn off via pre-looping bars and through a comb, and wound on a winding shaft of the winding device, where the pre-looping bars near the winding device have more threads looped around them and those farther away have fewer, and their degree of looping is centrally adjustable. At least one measuring device is placed beyond the comb in the direction of travel of the threads to determine tension in the threads and central adjustment of the pre-looping bars is controlled in relation to the result of measurement. To permit automatic resetting of the pre-looping bars independently of the material and the running speed of the threads in winding devices of different kinds, the winding device is constructed such that the pre-looping bars are divided at least on one side of a creel into successive functional groups to at least one of which is allocated a measuring device to determine the tension in threads of this group.

  • Patent number: 5922084
Abstract: A process for applying indigo dyestuff on a textile substrate is described, wherein the substrate is saturated with liquid steeping liquor containing indigo dyestuff and the saturated substrate is directly passed through a first low-oxygen wet dwelling section and only thereafter is dewatered. To maximize the dyestuff yield or diffusion into the individual fibers of the substrate, a second enclosed low-oxygen wet dwelling section is defined by an essentially sealed housing which is connected to the first wet dwelling section. The substrate is initially heated in the second wet dwelling section and the substrate travels through the remainder of the second wet dwelling section for a sufficient time to permit diffusion of the dyestuff into the fibers of the still moist substrate.

  • Patent number: 5903960
Abstract: A napping device for napping a web of textile goods is described. The machine has a driven main cylinder seated in the machine frame with planetary arranged napping rollers. In order to keep one front end of the essentially cylindrical main cylinder open, but yet to assure a quiet-running seating with a long service life, the main cylinder is received at its longitudinal circumferential edges in respectively one ring-shaped ball bearing. The ball bearing comprises respectively one ball bearing shell constituting the main cylinder and one ball bearing shell fixed in place on the machine frame.

  • Patent number: 5829950
Abstract: Process for loading spool pegs (10) of a spool rack (11) or the like with full yarn spools (12) set by a loading device (13) onto superimposed horizontally arranged pegs (16) of a transport carriage (15), which is moved by a drive motor (23) on a rail between the loading device (13) and the rack (11) and positioned with a sensor in front of the rack (11) in a predetermined position, wherein the carriage pegs (16) and the pegs (10) of the rack (11) are aligned. In order to avoid time-consuming and complicated setting operations, the process is performed so that the sensor (25) is set at the level of a peg tier (b) of the rack (11), that the travel segments (e.g. x1) of the transport carriage (15) are stored during its travels, that sensor signals triggered by the rack pegs (10) are stored in relation to the travel segments (e.g. x1), and that the transport carriage (15) is steered into its spool transfer position via the stored sensor signals.

  • Patent number: 5806773
Abstract: A creel has a frame provided with a plurality of parallel and longitudinally extending rows of holders each adapted to carry a respective filament-carrying bobbin with the holders of each row longitudinally staggered relative to the holders of adjacent rows and defining nonstraight gaps with the holders of the adjacent rows. Respective eyes are aligned transversely of the rows with the holders and filaments pass in a transverse direction from the bobbins to and through the respective eyes. A respective longitudinally extending and nonstraight guide spaced transversely in the direction from the bobbins between the bobbins and the eyes extends parallel to the rows and are each formed level with each holder of the respective rows with an arcuate section directed toward the holders of the respective rows and alignable in a first position in the transverse direction with the gaps between the bobbins.

  • Patent number: 5775622
Abstract: A warp formed of a multiplicity of parallel filaments is wound on a warp beam by an apparatus having a supply of the warp, a transport roller, and an adjustment roller adjacent the transport roller and movable between a holding position engaging the transport roller and a winding position spaced therefrom. The warp extends from the supply along a path around the transport roller, hen around the adjustment roller, and then around the warp beam. The beam and transport roller are rotated to displace the warp along the path and wind it up on the beam while maintaining the adjustment roller in the winding position. Tension is detected in the warp at least during winding of the warp on the beam and the adjustment roller is displaced during winding of the warp on the beam in a predetermined first direction transverse to the path to increase and decrease the tension to maintain the tension within a predetermined range when the adjustment roller is not in the holding position.

  • Patent number: 5730388
Abstract: A warp beamer having a frame supported on the floor and a horizontal warp beam rotatable on the frame has a step assembly provided with a step displaceable between a lower position supported directly on the floor and an upper position spaced well above the floor and of the warp beam. A motor connected between the step and the frame displaces the step between its positions. The step rides on a vertical guide on the frame and a lever assembly pivots the step between a horizontal position in the lower position and a generally vertical position in the upper position.

  • Patent number: 5626676
Abstract: A sizing applicator with two pairs of rollers arranged in sequence with one another along the transport path of a yarn sheet can be converted, without changing the position of the pairs of rollers, between an operating mode as a pad-type sizing applicator and a squeezing-type sizing applicator. Each pair of rollers has a defined gap at a common tangent therebetween and each pair of rollers has one roller disposed at a lower elevation than the other roller of the pair. The two roller pairs are relatively arranged such that their respective common tangents intersect beneath the roller pairs approximately midway between the roller pairs.

  • Patent number: 5625934
Abstract: In a reeling machine a multiplicity of yarns are pulled from respective supplies and wound up on a beam and each yarn is associated with a sensor which produces an output whose state indicates if the respective yarn is broken or not present. Each sensor is periodically scanned to read the state of its output and the reeling machine is stopped when one of the scanned outputs corresponds to a broken or not present condition of the respective yarn. An output is simultaneously generated indicating exactly which yarn is broken or not present. The sensor are connected to a matrix and the matrix is scanned to read the sensor outputs.
