Abstract: A catalyst for the production of alkenylaromatics from alkylaromatics, wherein the catalyst is predominantly iron oxide, an alkali metal compound and a small amount of a source for palladium or platinum. Additional components of the catalyst may include compounds based on cerium, molybdenum, tungsten and other such promoters. Also a process for the production of alkenylaromatics from alkylaromatics using this catalyst.

Abstract: A process for the production of a bleaching clay product which includes the steps of selecting a naturally occurring hormite clay product, cleaning and crushing the clay product to form clay clumps less than 6 in. in diameter, aging the crushed hormite clay and activating the clay with extremely small amounts of acid, in the range of less than 1 percent, by weight. Also, an acceptable bleaching clay product can be produced without the addition of any acid to the aged hormite clay.

Abstract: An improved catalyst for edible oil hydrogenation produced by the incorporation of a sulphur adsorbing zeolite with a supported nickel hydrogenation catalyst. The zeolite is a cation-exchanged form of low silica faujasite with a silica to alumina ratio from about 1.8 to 2.1. The hydrogenation catalyst is a supported nickel catalyst. The zeolite is incorporated into the stabilization media with the reduced hydrogenation catalyst to form a physical blend of sulphur adsorbing zeolite and reduced nickel hydrogenation catalyst in a stabilization medium.

Abstract: An adsorbent product for the adsorption of trace elements of sulfur, arsenic, mercury, compounds which contain these elements or metal hydrides from a hydrocarbon gas stream, preferably an olefinic or paraffinic stream, wherein the adsorbent product is iron oxide and manganese oxide placed on a support material, preferably aluminum oxide. Also disclosed is a process for the use of this adsorbent product for the removal of trace elements of arsenic, mercury and sulfur or compounds containing those elements or metal hydrides from a hydrocarbon gas stream, preferably an olefinic or paraffinic gas stream.
