    Abstract: A seal device for use in a rolling bearing has a shield plate which is made of an annular metal plate, the outer peripheral half of the annular metal plate comprising a radially inner flat portion and a radially outer bent tail portion which is folded radially inwards to cooperate with the flat portion to provide the shield plate with an outer peripheral edge which is fitted into a retaining groove formed in the outer ring of the bearing.
