Abstract: A method for adjusting weft yarn stretching in an ordinary or traversing shed and for adjusting the air consumption of relay nozzles forming a travelling zone in the shed of an air jet loom having one or more yarn feed systems. The weft yarns are picked from a weft preparation system by main nozzles with the assistance of relay nozzles. The arrival of the weft yarns is monitored by a weft stop motion, the weft yarns being stopped in their movement by stopper elements disposed before the shed and a facility is provided for controlling the pressure and timing of the main nozzles and the relay nozzles. By the measurement and statistical evaluation of a time difference .DELTA.t.sub.1 between the arrival of the weft yarn at a weft stop motion at the end of the shed and the actual stop shock when the weft yarn is stopped by the stopper elements before the shed, a signal representative of yarn deflection found which is of use for optimizing and controlling the adjustment of the relay nozzles.
Abstract: The turbine (1) has a control and regulating system with a pump (31), the pressure of which changes proportionally to the second power of the flow delivered by the pump or to the second power of the speed (n.sup.2) of the turbine (1). The hydraulic follow-up piston arrangement with the pilot piston (41) and the control piston (5) for regulating the speed of the turbine, is fed by this only pump (31), which permits a particularly compact and space-saving construction. The turbine can be used as a motor or drive in applications other than the generating of electricity, such as, for example, for rope winches.

Abstract: The horizontal reciprocating compressor is provided with a cylinder, piston and piston rod connected to the piston. An eccentric ring is mounted eccentrically within the piston and rotatably receives the piston rod. Rotation of the eccentric ring from time to time serves to move the axis of the piston rod vertically relative to the axis of the piston so as to eliminate runout.
Abstract: The actuating tool for coupling and uncoupling the coupling elements of the shaft coupling arrangement is rotatably mounted in the loom frame externally of the coupling elements. The tool includes a drive shaft, crank webs which extend transversely of the drive shaft and a pair of rollers which are disposed externally of the coupling elements. Upon pivoting of the tool, the rollers effect coupling or uncoupling of the coupling elements. The tool may be operated automatically and may be constructed so as to guide the individual push rods of the shaft drive when loom shafts are not present.
Abstract: In the treatment of solid residues containing heavy metals from combustion plants, the heavy-metal compounds dissolved after washing-out and subsequently precipitated are separated from the solvent, usually water or slightly acid aqueous solutions by cross-current diaphragm filtration. The sludge obtained during filtration and comprising precipitated insoluble heavy-metal compounds is dewatered together with the remaining solid residues and made suitable for dumping, e.g. by using binders. The cross-current diaphragm filter improves the washing of heavy metals out of the washing or waste water, and the method and the associated plant are simplified by the joint processing of the sludges containing solids.

Abstract: The coating process for coating the vascular prosthesis resides in stepwise rotations of the prosthesis, filled with a cell suspension, through fixed angles and in pauses for deposition between the rotations. The length of pauses start at two seconds and are increased in small increments of from 1 to 2 seconds to values of 2 to 3 minutes. The angle of rotation is controlled to ensure a uniform gapless deposition of the living cells.

Abstract: A picking mechanism comprises a flexible picking belt for securing to a belt wheel and made of plastics reinforced by a number of stranded and/or bunched groups of fibers. The fiber groups are disposed in an insert extending over the entire length of the picking belt and surrounded by a layer of plastics constituting the picking belt and free from the fiber in the fiber groups. The picking belt has an end portion remaining outside the winding area of the belt wheel and formed with a web-like raised part. The easily-manufactured, low-weight picking belt prevents exposure of fiber in the fiber group during a long period of operation.
Abstract: The reinforcement for the proximal region of a bone cement bed for a femoral head prosthesis includes a grid of crossing members at least some of which are wavy. The wavy members have a high wavy shape lengthwise and spring in as the gap between a bone cavity and a prosthesis stem narrows. Abstract: The compressor comprises at least one high-pressure cylinder and piston unit having a piston which is guided in a cylinder liner and which is coupled with a crankshaft by way of a connecting element guided in the cylinder casing along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder. The piston is coupled with the connecting element by way of a mounting permitting movements of the connecting element relatively to the piston transversely of the longitudinal axis. Guidance of the piston is achieved without affect from oscillations of the connecting. The piston cooperates with the liner to bound a lubricant-free annular gap open over the whole longitudinal portion common to the liner and the piston. A dry gap ring seal can therefore be provided between the piston and the liner and ensures that the compression chamber remains seal tight even at pressures of above 60 bar. Preferably, the piston and the cylinder liner are each made of wear-resistant metal or ceramic material.
Abstract: A cloth beam changer includes a conveyor having gripping arms which carry gripping elements at the ends. A transmission is provided in the form of a slide with a spindle and nut arrangement for raising and lowering the slide. A guide rail and stop are provided in the winding-on station of the loom to position the gripping elements accurately while at the same time preventing further downward movement of the gripper arms and slide. A spring between the slider and spindle nut compressers should the transmission overshoot the position of the gripper elements. A second spring is also provided between two parts of the gripper arm to permit deflection of the lower part upon engagement and sliding on the guide rail of the loom. Sensors are provided to measure the amount of deflection of the respective springs.

Abstract: The weft yarn changer includes a multi-pivot transmission which is driven by a thrust rod. In addition, the thrust rod is driven by a rocking lever which can be coupled and uncoupled from the thrust rod by an actuating element in the form of a double-acting solenoid. When a weft change is to the effected, the solenoid actuates a tappet to deflect the thrust rod laterally so that a pin on the rocking lever engages in a bore of the thrust rod in order to couple the thrust rod to the rocking lever for a subsequent actuating motion.
