Patents Assigned to Sulzer Medizinaltechnik
  • Patent number: 5271747
Abstract: With the invention is shown a meniscus platform for an artificial knee joint, which consists of a metal platform (1) and a metal slide member (3) sliding thereon at right angles to the tibia axis (17), which on its upper side comprises sliding surfaces (4, 5) and a guide bead (8) for the condyles (13, 14) of a femur part (11). The sliding movement between the metal slide member (3) and the metal platform (1) is restricted by a guiding pin (10) in the metal platform, which engages in an oblong hole (9) in a slide member (3) made of metal. The metal slide member (3) can rotate around the guiding pin (10) and can be displaced along its oblong hole (9). The rotational movement of the slide member (3) is restricted by a limiting recess (15), which encloses a part of the eminentia (19) in the region of the rear cruciate ligament.

  • Patent number: 5201825
Abstract: With the invention is shown a sterile environment packaging for an oblong rigid body, which consists of a supporting shell (2) made of plastic which can be sealed with a film lid so that it is airtight, and which consists of support members (4) made from compressible foam. The support members (4) are attached at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the supporting shell (2) and in the direction of the lid with protrusions (6) into lateral pockets (7) of the supporting shell (2). The support members (4) at the top and at the base act as a partition (8) to prevent contact between the rigid body (1) in the direction of the longitudinal direction and the supporting shell (2). Central support members (9) for housing the rigid body comprise an opening (10) in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the supporting shell (2), and said opening is accessible via a slit (11) on the lid side.

  • Patent number: 5196018
Abstract: The invention shows knock-out instruments for the shanks of hipjoint prostheses, the said instrument consisting of a shank (1) with a coupling-part for a sliding hammer (not shown) as well as of an extension-piece (3) which may be applied in the knock-out direction. The extension-piece (3) is connected rigidly to the shank and stands away from it like a foot at an angle .alpha. of between 20.degree. and 60.degree.. The extension-piece exhibits a recess (8) which may be slid from one side over the neck of a hipjoint prosthesis and encircles it over an angle of up to 180.degree., the width inside the recess measured across the 180.degree. being greater by a clearance than the smallest diameter of the neck of the prosthesis, measured in the same direction.

  • Patent number: 5181924
Abstract: The invention shows a patella prosthesis, which consists of an artificial slide member (2) made from polyethylene with sliding surface (3), with the slide member (2) being mounted on the rear of the patella (1) by means of an attachment. The sliding surface (3) consists of the sector of a polyethylene sphere, which comprises a metal grid (4) of an attachment member (9). The attachment member consists of a metal sandwich construction having a central support sheet and metal grids (4, 6) spot welded on both sides, with bevelled sheet metal flanges (7) for the primary attachment of the support sheet (5) protruding through recesses (8) in the metal grid (6) on the side of the patella.
