Abstract: A synthesis experiment automation system is provided with a robot, which transports synthesis reaction containers from a reaction container rack to a dispensing/separation position of a dispensing and separation device, and transports the synthesis reaction containers to a predetermined position in a temperature regulator unit of a reaction device, where a reaction is carried out under previously set experiment conditions; and with a computer, which controls the actions of the robot and the operations of the dispensing and separation device and the reaction device in accordance with a plurality of previously set experiment conditions. Accordingly, the synthesis experiment automation system is capable of simultaneously performing a plurality of different experiments as complex as those usually performed by researchers, and, moreover, has a large number of possible experiment operations, and can easily be improved and/or extended.
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a process for producing particles of a metal compound having a spherical particle shape and an average particle diameter larger than 0.3 &mgr;m without employing high-pressure conditions. This object is achieved by a process for producing particle of a metal compound comprising a step of adjusting pH of an aqueous solution containing urea and at least one metal element to from 4 to 8, a step of heating the aqueous solution under normal pressure, a step of separating a solid from the solution, and a step of drying the solid.

Abstract: Alpha alumina powder having a regulated particle size, a uniform particle shape and a narrow particle size distribution and further a low halogen content is produced by calcining at least one starting material selected from transition alumina and alumina compounds in a halogen-containing atmosphere which comprises a hydrogen halide gas, a halogen gas or a mixture of a halogen gas and steam and contains at least 0.1% by volume of at least one halogen-containing gas selected from the group consisting of hydrogen halide gas and halogen gas, and removing halogen from a calcined material. The produced alpha-alumina powder is excellent in a packing property and homogeneously packed.
Abstract: A process for producing &agr;-alumina containing &agr;-alumina single crystal particles characterized in that at least one of a transition alumina and transition alumina precursor is calcined in an atmosphere containing at least 1% by volume of hydrogen chloride at a temperature of not less than 600° C., preferably from 600 to 1,400° C., and more preferably from 800 to 1,200° C. Aluminum hydroxide, alum, aluminum sulfate, etc. are used as the alumina raw material capable of being converted to transition alumina on heating. &agr;-Alumina comprising octahedral or higher polyhedral &agr;-alumina single crystal particles have a high alumina purity above a given level, are fine and homogeneous, have a narrow particle size distribution, are not agglomerated particles, and can be obtained from raw materials of various kinds, purities, shapes, sizes, and compositions.

Abstract: An acrylic resin film made from a composition having 95 to 50 wt. parts of an acrylic resin having a glass transition temperature of 60 to 110° C. and a weight average molecular weight of 70,000 to 600,000, and 5 to 50 wt. parts of a multilayer-structured acrylic polymer containing an elastomeric layer, and a multilayer film having the above acrylic resin film and other resin film. These films have better thickness accuracy, surface smoothness and surface hardness than conventional acrylic resin films, with excellent properties as films for use in simultaneous injection molding and lamination, agricultural films, display films, masking films, paint-substitute films, and the like.
