  • Patent number: 6131750
Abstract: A connecting system for aligning the fly lug of a strut on a boom extension for connection to the boom head shaft of a crane boom. The apparatus includes an offset jack screw extending through a threaded aperture in the boom head shaft parallel to the strut of the boom extension and a laterally extending tab affixed to the fly lug. The jack screw has a swivel pad at the head that contacts the tab. Manual adjustment to the jack screw is operative to move the lug so that a hole for a pin aligns with a mating hole in the head shaft. The face portion of the swivel pad universally mates with the operative face of the tab that extends at a 10.degree.-15.degree. angle normal to the axis of the strut to cancel the induced turning moment caused by the offset of said jack screw.

  • Patent number: 5348171
Abstract: A removable outrigger unit is provided for a crane vehicle to provide weight reduction for over-the-road travel. Alignment cams allow rapid attachment/removal with respect to the vehicle frame. In a first or rear mounted embodiment, the outrigger has guide pins on spaced hangers that engage hooks on lugs mounted on the vehicle frame and rotary eccentric cams on the hangers that provide point alignment contact. A second or front mounted embodiment includes rotary eccentric and linear cams on the outrigger that contact side/bottom edge faces of cooperating dual lugs on the vehicle frame. The cams in both embodiments are preadjusted by bolts so that contact with the lugs occurs when corresponding lock pin receiving apertures are aligned. Double acting hydraulic cylinders on the outrigger move opposed lock pins through the aligned apertures and secure the outriggers to the frame. At least one support beam of the second embodiment includes pivotal beam extensions with an offset jacking cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5240129
Abstract: A traveling crane incorporates a self-retracting/erecting live mast or the like, pivotally mounted on the base unit and capable of moving to and from a flipped, stowed position on the opposite side of vertical from the positions of the normal operating mode. A cable and winch is provided to raise and lower the mast during the normal operating mode and to move the mast toward the stowed position. A power cylinder operates to control the mast during retraction and to erect the mast from the stowed position. A control system operates the power cylinder to controllably move the mast during retraction/erection. Flexible pendants and telescopic guide links interconnect the cylinder with the mast and the base unit. Optimum operating angles are provided. The control system includes an electrical circuit and a hydraulic circuit, the hydraulic circuit having a restricted orifice to resist movement of the mast by gravity during retraction.

  • Patent number: 5226703
Abstract: A mounting bracket is provided for the support or idler rollers for the upper run of a track vehicle. The bracket includes two sets of teeth on opposite sides of the roller in order to scrape and remove mud and debris. Preferably, the bracket includes mounting wings that extend downwardly at an approximately 45-degree angle and with the teeth extending substantially tangentially to the outer support surface of the roller. The roller extends down into a cut-out opening between the wings and the teeth that are formed integrally along the upper edges of the wings. Flat bridge portions of the plate receive the bearing pillow blocks of the roller.
