Abstract: The pouring of molten metal from a tundish to a mold in a continuous casting process is controlled by regulating the variable opening of a tundish nozzle. The level of the molten metal in the mold is measured and compared with a desired preset level and the nozzle opening is varied in accordance with the difference between the measured level of the metal and the preset level in the mold. The nozzle opening is detected and an electrical signal representative thereof is provided to the input of a servo amplifier along with the difference between the measured level of the molten metal and the preset level in the mold to provide a control signal for varying the opening of the nozzle in the tundish. A component of the electrical signal representing a desired minimum opening of the nozzle opening to prevent the full closing thereof is also provided.

Abstract: A method for treatment of the heavy hydrocarbonaceous fraction resulting from thermal cracking of high molecular-weight hydrocarbonaceous materials, which method comprises removing light hydrocarbons contained in said fraction by bringing it into contact with a bed packed with refractory inorganic particles at an elevated temperature so as to evaporate said light hydrocarbons and regenerating said refractory inorganic particles-packed bed by incinerating heavy hydrocarbonaceous materials remaining on and/or among said particles in the bed by supplying oxygen to the bed.
Abstract: A method of obtaining a refined oil product from low-grade oils containing a relatively large amount of water and/or sludge, which comprises the steps of introducing a low-grade oil directly into a fluidized bed type cracking furnace and subjecting it to thermal cracking therein, introducing the resulting efflux from said cracking furnace into a fractionation column and therein separating it into an overhead light vapor component which is removed from the top of said column and a heavy component which is recovered from the bottom of said column, cooling the overhead light vapor component and then feeding it into a gas-liquid separator to divide it into a vapor-phase stream and a liquidphase stream, and circulating a part of said liquid-phase stream to the top of the fractionation column as reflux while recovering the balance of the liquid-phase stream as the refined oil product.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for automatic fillet welding. The apparatus has a runnable motor-driven carriage which carries a multi-stage telescopic unit which mounts a lateral slide unit mounting in turn a longitudinal slide. A welding head having three welding torches mounted on tip end of the longitudinal slide through a complex type fine adjusting mechanism assembly. The telescopic unit is controlled by a hydraulic pump circuit which is controlled in turn by means of an automatic electric circuit.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThis invention relates to a novel apparatus for carrying out automatic vertical, high speed fillet welding.Previously, the automatic vertical fillet welding was generally carried out in an upwardly advancing method without use of any protecting gas. In rare cases, however, the automatic vertical fillet welding was proposed, at least theoretically, relying upon the downwardly advancing method using carbon dioxide gas as a protecting or atmospheric gas.
