Abstract: Provided is a firearm noise suppressor baffle formed of at least two material zones. The zones are made of materials having dissimilar coefficients of thermal expansion from each other and have an interface substantially transverse to a bore axis. The baffle includes an annularly interrupting gap having a width. The gap is formed in at least one of the material zones and extends substantially longitudinal relative to the bore axis from an edge of the baffle.
Abstract: Provided is a firearm noise suppressor having a baffle chamber unit defining a plurality of separated interior chambers and having a length and a substantially imperforate outer wall surface. The interior chambers are separated by at least one interior baffle wall with a central opening configured to allow passage of a projectile. A removable identification member with identifying indicia thereon assembled on the baffle chamber unit covers at least a portion but less that the entire length of the outer wall surface of the baffle chamber unit's length and a selected area of the member is affixed to the outer surface of the baffle chamber unit so as to prevent the removal of the member without a machining process to the selected area.
Abstract: Provided is a method of repairing a firearm noise suppressor that includes a baffle chamber unit and a removable identification band with identifying indicia thereon with material of an area of the band is affixed to the baffle chamber unit to prevent the removal of the band without a machining process to the selected area. The method includes machining the affixed area of the band to remove the affixed material, removing the band from the baffle chamber unit, repairing or preplacing the baffle chamber unit, reinstalling the band on the baffle chamber unit, and affixing a different area of the band to the baffle chamber unit to prevent the removal of the band without a machining process.
Abstract: Provided is a firearm noise suppressor having a baffle chamber unit with at least one dimpled recess on an outer surface thereof. An identification band with identifying indicia thereon is placed on the baffle chamber unit over the at least one dimpled recess, and an area of the band is deformed into the dimpled recess to prevent the removal of the band without a machining process.
