Abstract: A test sample collection device includes a generally elongated sample collection section for collecting and holding a test sample, a handle member having a top half, a bottom half, a test strip located between the top and bottom halves, and an opening formed by the top and bottom halves, and a cap. Prong members fit within the opening of the handle member for releasably connecting the sample collecting section to the handle member. The cap is releasably mounted on the sample collecting section and covers the sample collecting section. Flexible extension members on the cap are used to release the sample collecting section from the handle member. The collecting section includes a plurality of fins and slots for assisting in collecting the test sample. The device also includes windows for magnified viewing of test results and for indicating whether a sufficient amount of the sample has been collected.

Abstract: A collection system for collecting a liquid test sample that includes a spoon-like member having a bowl portion for collecting and holding the test sample, a handle member housing a test device, and a channel member joining the bowl portion to the handle member is disclosed. The channel member provides an elongated passageway for transferring the test sample to the test device. A cap is releasably mounted on the channel member and covers the bowl portion and the channel member. The bowl portion and channel member are inclined slightly upwardly from the horizontal thereby allowing the test sample to flow from the bowl portion, through the channel member, and into the handle member. A cover is releasably mounted on the channel member and can be secured to the handle member.

Abstract: A sample collection and test device that includes a container adapted to hold a fluid test sample, a lid secured to the container, a plate with a plurality of grooves and within each groove a test strip may be held, and a mechanism for securing the plate to the lid where the plate is able to pivot from a secured, inactive position within the lid to an active position within the container where the test strips contact the test sample is disclosed. Either the container or the lid may include a window in order to view the reactions on the test strips.

Abstract: A immunochromatographical test device including a cap, an absorbent pad, a membrane, a test strip, a holder, and a housing is disclosed. The housing contains the membrane and the test strip which contains immunoreagents. Secured to the holder is the absorbent pad which contains the sample to be tested. The cap fits over the holder and the holder fits within the housing. When the absorbent pad contacts the membrane, the membrane indicates that a proper amount of the sample has been collected. When the absorbent pad contacts the test strip, a reaction, if any, can be observed via a window formed within the housing.
