Abstract: In combination, a subterranean liquid storage tank, a pump suction pipe mounted therein and extending substantially vertically from the top of the tank toward the bottom thereof, and a disc member positioned below and in vertical alignment with the lower end of said pipe, the member having a pedestal which rests at the bottom of the storage tank, both the disc and said pedestal being flexible and compressible to a size enabling insertion into and withdrawal from the tank by way of the pipe. Preferably the disc and its supporting member will be made of a flexible foam.
Abstract: Pipe fittings are prepared for re-use by accurately re-beveling the pipe edges which are subsequently to be re-welded. A rotating table is provided with concentric rings which build up in height toward the center in order to accommodate the open end of various size fittings. A hand-crank is coupled to the rotary table to permit controlled rotation of a fitting being reconditioned. A vertically adjustable bracket is adapted to support a cutting torch directed at a predetermined angle, according to the bevel desired, proximate the upper end of the fitting. The table is then rotated with the crank through a full revolution in order to bevel the surface at which the torch is directed. As needed, the fitting may be inverted to refurbish a second end, and adapters may be provided to accommodate tees, elbows and the like.
Abstract: A process for making refrigeration oils without acid treating and clay contacting steps which comprises subjecting a naphthenic oil to a first hydrogenation step at a temperature of from about 550.degree. to about 660.degree. F, a hydrogen pressure of from about 500 to about 1500 psig., and in the presence of a nickel-molybdenum or cobalt-molybdenum catalyst, subjecting the hydrogenated oil to a second hydrogenation treatment under the same conditions, catalytically dewaxing the twice hydrogenated oil and percolating the dewaxed oil through bauxite.
