  • Publication number: 20120078157
Abstract: The subject invention includes devices for providing therapeutic pressure to a treatment site. The devices include a bladder portion and a dressing portion. The bladder portion has opposed upper and lower exterior walls sealed to one another along common peripheral edges thereof to form an interior pressure chamber therebetween, without a lip or flange extending around the perimeter of the peripheral edge. The dressing portion is integrated with the bladder portion or detachably provided so that none of the bladder material comes into contact with the patient's skin at the treatment site. The interior pressure chamber of the bladder portion may have a number of configurations and serves as a bolster for the dressing portion, used to aid in the healing process of the wound.

  • Publication number: 20120022422
Abstract: A venous closure catheter is disclosed for performing sclerotherapy which includes an elongated catheter body having opposed proximal and distal end portions, a fluid delivery lumen and a guidewire lumen. A plurality of discharge apertures are associated with the distal end portion of the catheter body and communicate with the fluid delivery lumen for delivering a sclerosing solution into the saphenous vein. A circumferential flange is positioned on an exterior surface of the catheter body proximal to the discharge apertures, which has a plurality of projections formed thereon for traumatizing the inner wall of the saphenous vein upon removal of the catheter body therefrom to promote closure of saphenous vein after sclerotherapy. A compression apparatus is disclosed for providing therapeutic pressure subsequent to sclerotherapy. The compression apparatus includes first and second wraps for providing compression of an upper leg, and the lower leg and foot, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7276037
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for applying compression therapy to an extremity of the human body, such as a portion of the human leg. The device includes a flexible member and an air bladder chamber. The flexible member is adapted to wrap around the extremity to secure the air bladder chamber to the extremity. An air pumping mechanism is operated to inflate the air bladder chamber to a pressurized state. One or more fluid-filled pressurized members are provided, each separate and distinct from the flexible member and the air bladder chamber and thus readily moveable relative to the flexible member and the air bladder chamber. The pressurized member(s) is operably disposed between the extremity and the flexible member whereby it applies increased localized pressure to the extremity during use.
