Abstract: A tamper indicating closure and closure-container package in which a tamper indicating skirt depends from the bottom of the annular wall of a standard threaded cap. The skirt includes a plurality of equally spaced depending ribs which are joined at their extremities by a flexible ring. The ring and the skirt ribs pass over lugs on the container neck when the cap is being threaded onto the closure. When the cap is being unthreaded, the lugs engage the rings to sever them indicating tampering or prior opening.

Abstract: A closure having an insert which acts as a barrier over a container neck lip to selectively shield the product being packaged. An elastic sealing member which can be in the form of an O-ring is compressed between the insert and the container neck lip by a threaded cap of the container.

Abstract: A tamper indicating package including a container having integrally molded flexible retainer means for engaging and resisting the movement of a tamper indicating ring attached to a closure by frangible means so that separation of the ring of the closure indicates tampering.

Abstract: A child resistant closure having a visible external locking tab which cooperates with a locking stop on a container. A threaded inner cap remains sealed while the child resistant locking tab is locked from the position of locking to a tightened position. An outer cap is rotated to engage cooperating drive means for closing or opening the closure. When the closure is reapplied, the user is assured that it is sealed when he observes that the child resistant tab is engaged.

Abstract: A tamper indicating package in which the tamper indicating element is located on the container neck. A satellite ring is integrally molded with the container neck being connected thereto by a frangible connection between the ring and an integrally molded container neck flange. The frangible connection is broken to remove the closure from the container neck. Standard caps can be used on the container.

Abstract: A closure having an enhanced seal for withstanding distortion of the closure and the container to which it is attached during sterilization.An inner plug cooperates with an outer bead to capture the container neck lip and maintain a separate resilient hermetic seal in position between the closure top and the container neck lip.

Abstract: A dispensing closure molded with polypropylene or other suitable plastic material having a base cap with a dispensing orifice in its top and a lid hinged to the cap for closing the orifice. The lid has a low profile with its skirt conforming with the cap skirt in its closed position so that the lid cannot be grasped with sufficient force to open the lid. An arcuate slot in the cap top allows inward deflection of the cap skirt providing access to the bottom of the lid for swinging the lid open.

Abstract: A tamper indicating closure has a hermetically sealed membrane which prevents contamination. The membrane is held within a closure cap for easy application to a container neck prior to being heat welded to the container. A disc secured to the membrane together with a pull ring serves to sever the membrane and open the sealed container. A lid functions to cover the membrane and disc until the seal is to be broken and thereafter to close the container when not in use. The only way to gain access to the contents, i.e. to the interior of the container, is by tearing the membrane. The means for tearing the membrane substantially covers the membrane except for a very thin edge portion thereof adjacent the spout of the container. This insures that tearing for the purpose of opening will substantially completely remove the membrane and also insures that access to the membrane for tampering purposes is very difficult.

Abstract: A dispensing closure molded with a polypropolyene or other plastic material having a base cup with a dispensing orifice in its top and a lid hinged to the cap for closing the orifice. The lid is recessed in the base cap and has projecting tabs which are pushed to release detent locks so that the lid may be swung to an open, dispensing position. Arcuate slots through the lid, in line with the tabs, allow sufficient deflection of the lid to unlock the the detents.

Abstract: A tamper indicating closure for a container has a center section provided with a ring which may be pulled to open the container. The pull out center section forms part of an insert which is held in position by a cap base. The insert is interposed between the cap base and the neck of the container so as to form a seal between the cap base and the container. The insert can be formed of a softer more easily torn material than the cap base. The cap base can also serve as a pour nozzle for easy pouring, and also will cooperate with the cap lid to obtain a secured closure of the container once the center section of the insert is removed.

Abstract: A dispensing closure in which the conventional lid is replaced by a U-shaped yoke with a sealing plug extending downwardly at the bight of the yoke. A self-returning force is generated by the removal of the closure plug from the dispensing orifice.

Abstract: A child resistant dispensing closure molded with polypropylene or other suitable plastic material having a base cap with a dispensing orifice in its top and a lid hinged to the cap for closing the orifice. The lid has a low profile with its skirt conforming with the cap skirt in its closed position so that the lid cannot be grasped at a random position with sufficient force to open the lid. An arcuate slot of at least 180.degree. in the lid top permits squeezing pressure to be applied to the lid skirt at two diametrically opposed points to effect displacement of a portion of the lid providing access to the bottom of the lid for swinging the lid open.

Abstract: A container neck insert for providing a safety feature upon removal of a conventional covering cap. The insert is in the form of a plastic disk molded with a portion which engages a recess in the container neck and is retained therein. In one form the safety feature provides tamper indication by using a circumferential frangible opening line and a pull tab for removal of a portion of the disk. In another form, the safety feature provides child-resistant access to the container by acting as a pivoting door having a closing feature when the opening force is removed.

Abstract: A tamper indicating closure for use with a container having a neck with an opening in which at least a portion of the closure is transparent. A destructible seal is bonded to the container neck providing a hermetic seal which is visible through the closure to indicate package integrity or tampering. In some embodiments, a transparent insert member is provided through which the seal element is visible, and after removal of the seal element, the insert member serves to reseal the closure to the container neck. In some embodiments, access is obtained to the container by unthreading and removing the closure from the container neck and puncturing the destructible seal element. In other embodiments, the seal element is bonded to the flat closure top or the insert so that the seal element is fractured upon initial opening movement of the closure to remove it from the container neck.

Abstract: A tamper indicating package incorporates a closure, at least a portion of which is transparent, and a seal which is bonded to the container so that the seal is visible through the closure. In some embodiments the closure is fastened also to the seal so that any movement between the closure and container results in fracture of the seal indicating tampering.

Abstract: A threaded safety dispensing closure and container package in which the initial threading on of the closure to the product filled container affixes the closure to the container so that it cannot be removed, requiring dispensing through the dispensing orifice in the closure top and inhibiting refilling of the container. The container neck terminates in an annular end wall having a plurality of circumferentially spaced ratchet teeth which coact with the top of the closure cap allowing threading on but locking the cap to the container against unthreading removal. Tamper indication can be provided by an integrally molded insert across the dispensing orifice which is removed by a pull tab.

Abstract: A closure having a dispensing orifice in the top of a threaded cap which is closed by a lid hinged to the cap. A thin membrane extends inwardly from the periphery of the orifice, and a closure plug on the lid engages the orifice and stretches the membrane downwardly to seal the plug. The method of manufacture and sealing is presented.

Abstract: A safety dispensing closure and container package in which the closure is affixed to the container so that it cannot be removed, requiring dispensing through a dispensing orifice in the closure top and inhibiting refilling of the container. An internal bead on the closure skirt engages a groove in the container neck and the closure skirt extends into close proximity with a shoulder on the container neck to prevent attempts of prying removal. Tamper indication can also be provided by an integrally molded insert across the dispensing orifice which is removed by a pull tab.

Abstract: A large size barrel-shaped dent ball for removing dents in curved and tapered tubing having a diameter between 21/2 and 41/2 inches such as a tuba. The ball is constructed with a hardwood core and a steel band about the center portion of its length. An axial steel tube is also inserted in the hardwood core to facilitate use and removal of the ball from the tube. This composite structure reduces the overall weight so that the ball can be manipulated during use. A cable tool on which the dent ball can be strung between two metal impact balls is also presented. Reciprocation of the cable provides repeated impact of a metal impact ball against the barrel-shaped dent ball to drive the dent ball under and past the dent in a dent removal and tool retrieval direction.

Abstract: A threaded one piece closure having a tamper indicating band attached to the lower end of a cap skirt by frangible bridges which fracture upon the initial opening of the closure leaving the detached band on the container indicating the initial opening or tampering. The bottom of the tamper indicating band is formed with a plurality of equally spaced stop segments attached by flexible webs. The tamper indicating band is also formed with a plurality of rectangular windows in line with the stop segments. The flexible webs permit the swinging of the stop segments into an operative position engaged within the windows so that they will coact with a flange or ratchet teeth on the container to provide a means for fracturing the frangible bridges upon unthreading of the cap.
