Abstract: An improvement in an apparatus for setting up and closing the bottom of cartons or so called slit-boxes which are supplied as plainly collapsed carton tubes having sides and bottom and top flaps which are integral with the sides. The apparatus comprises a support (1) which carries a magazine (2) for carton blanks, a feeder unit (3) and a bottom flap closing means (4). The feeding unit (3) includes a suction catcher (11) adapted to catch and open a container blank and to move the said blank along a handling path while closing at least bottom thereof. The feeding unit carries an expelling means (27) having an expellor arm (28) which is moveable between a position inside the handling path and a position outside the handling path and which is mounted at a predetermined distance in front of the feeder unit (3) as considered in the feeding direction.

Abstract: Goods to be packed are continuously collected in units of goods. Parallelly therewith plain package blanks are preformed to package containers, which are completely open at least at one vertical side. The units of goods and the open package containers are moved in a continuous feeding movement side by side with the same speed, and with the open container side facing the unit of goods. During the feeding movement a unit of goods is pushed sideways into a package container. The open container side or sides are closed and sealed, and the package is moved away from the packaging station. The front side and the rear side of the preformed package container as considered in the feeding direction are widened in relation to each other before the units of goods are pushed into the containers to facilitate the pushing in of the units of goods into the package containers.

Abstract: An apparatus for handling of unsealed slit boxes (2) of the type having at least at the bottom thereof two pairs of close flaps (3, 4), and which comprises a cradle-like support (11) in the form of a U-bar which is open at the top and which at the bottom is formed with a guide and lock bar (17) having two lock plates (19, 20) provided spaced one above the other and spaced from the bottom of the cradle support and between which two opposite close flaps (4) at the bottom of the slit box (2) can be introduced and moved in the longitudinal direction of the cradle support while retaining the slit box and preventing the slit box from moving upwards.
