Patent number: 10345044Abstract: A process and apparatus for controlling the strip run (4) of a metal strip (10) through a floating furnace (3). The strip run (4) is controlled contact-free with the aid of an electromagnetic device (1) that generates a Lorentz force acting transversely to the strip run.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2016Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: ANDRITZ Sundwig GmbHInventors: Klaus Boguslawsky, Jurgen Albrecht

Publication number: 20150217358Abstract: A device for joining metal strips passing successively into a strip processing plant includes two cutting punches having a respective cutting edge which is associated with a cutting edge of the respective other cutting punch. The cutting punches are movable along a cutting axis in a cutting motion to produce an undetachable join in an adjoining region by deformation. In the same position with respect to the cutting axis, the cutting edges of the cutting punches define a cutting gap which extends in the transverse direction and occupies a gap width in a width direction oriented at a right angle to the transverse direction and to the cutting axis. The cutting edges include an acute angle with the transverse direction, viewed from the cutting direction and in that the cutting punches are movable relative to one another in the transverse direction of the cutting gap to change the gap width.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2014Publication date: August 6, 2015Applicant: ANDRITZ Sundwig GmbHInventors: Patrick Störmer, Klaus Boguslawsky

Method and Production Line for Producing a Cold-Rolled Steel Flat Product from a Non-Corroding Steel
Publication number: 20130205855Abstract: A method and a production line for producing a cold-rolled steel flat product from a hot strip with scale adhering to it and consisting of a non-corroding steel. The hot strip with scale adhering to it is cold-rolled into a steel flat product, the cold-rolled steel flat product is annealed and the annealed steel flat product is descaled. According to the invention, the cold-rolled steel flat product obtained after cold rolling the hot strip is subjected to descaling treatment in the hard-rolled state before annealing, in which the scale present on the cold-rolled steel flat product is mechanically removed. In this way, methods and production lines can be implemented, by means of which cold-rolled steel flat products can be produced cost-effectively from non-corroding steel with an improved surface finish.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2011Publication date: August 15, 2013Applicant: ANDRITZ SUNDWIG GMBHInventors: Ian MacKenzie, Christian Bartholdt -
Patent number: 7104101Abstract: The invention relates to a roll stand comprising a pair of work rolls 1, 2 for rolling a metal strip B, comprising back-up rolls 8, 9, 10, 11 which provide lateral support to their respectively allocated work rolls 1, 2, with support force directed towards the work rolls 1, 2 being able to be applied to said back-up rolls by means of a force generation device, and comprising support rolls or intermediate rolls 3, 4 which are borne by a chock which can be slid into the roll stand W1, W2 in the direction of the longitudinal axis of said chock 7, and wherein said chock can be withdrawn from said roll stand, with each support roll or intermediate roll supporting an associated work roll 1, 2 in a direction which is essentially perpendicular to the direction of movement of the metal strip B.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2000Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: Sundwig GmbHInventors: Bernd Berger, Heinrich Schulte, Damian Cöppicus

Patent number: 6908020Abstract: A device for isolating strips conveyed next to another in lengthwise direction is constituted by at least one separating unit which is extended parallel to a lengthwise axis. Each strip is assigned to one guide and it is inserted and guided by the guides in a plane running essentially parallel to the lengthwise axis of the separating unit and different for neighboring guides. When the strips are inserted into the guides, the guides are adjustable from a starting position, in which the strips have a slight lateral interval, into a separable position, in which a larger interval exists between the strips.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2000Date of Patent: June 21, 2005Assignee: Sundwig GmbHInventor: Peter Gravert

Patent number: 6134811Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for the removal of liquid from the surface (0', 0") of a strip (B) conveyed from a strip processing machine, more particularly a rolling stand, by means of a gas jet (G1, G4, G5, Gzl, Gzr, G12-G18, G17', G18'), which has an outlet nozzle (2, 4, 5, 12-19) from which the gas jet (G1, G4, G5, Gzl, Gzr, G12-G18, G17', G18') emerges, and a suction opening (8a), via which the gas jet (G1, G4, G5, Gzl, Gzr, G12-G18, G17', G18') can be removed by suction mixed with the liquid, the apparatus enabling the surface of the strip to be adequately cleaned over its whole width. This is achieved by the feature that the gas jet (G1, G4, G5, Gzl, Gzr, G12-G18, G17', G18') is guided over the strip (B) in a flow (S, S2) directed towards at least one of the lateral edges (R) of the strip (B), and a suction opening (8a) is associated with that lateral edge (R) of the strip (B) at which the flow (S, S2) is directed.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1999Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: Sundwig GmbHInventors: Bernd Berger, Manfred Benfer, Heiko Peche
