  • Patent number: 8999825
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of healing defects at junctions of a semiconductor device, which includes growing a p-Ge layer on a substrate, performing ion implantation on the p-Ge layer to form an n+ Ge region or performing in-situ doping on the p-Ge layer and then etching to form an n+ Ge region or depositing an oxide film on the p-Ge layer and performing patterning, etching and in-situ doping to form an n+ Ge layer, forming a capping oxide film, performing annealing at 600˜700° C. for 1˜3 hr, and depositing an electrode, and in which annealing enables Ge defects at n+/p junctions to be healed and the depth of junctions to be comparatively reduced, thus minimizing leakage current, thereby improving properties of the semiconductor device and achieving high integration and fineness of the semiconductor device.

  • Patent number: 8934679
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a real-time face recognition apparatus and method. A real-time face recognition apparatus includes a face detection unit for detecting a face image by obtaining image coordinates of a face from an input image. An eye detection unit obtains image coordinates of both eyes in the face image. A facial feature extraction unit generates feature histogram data based on parallel processing from the face image. A DB unit stores predetermined comparative feature histograms. A histogram matching unit compares the histogram data generated by the facial feature extraction unit with the comparative feature histograms, and then outputting similarities of face images. The face recognition apparatus may be implemented as internal hardware in which a VGA camera and an exclusive chip interface with each other, thus remarkably reducing a system size and installation cost, and performing face recognition in real time without requiring additional equipment.

  • Publication number: 20140169388
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for encoding and decoding packets using a polar code is provided. The method includes acquiring a plurality of blocks constituting the packet, extracting a plurality of codeword candidates corresponding to the blocks, selecting some of the codeword candidates in a descending order of posterior probability among the codeword candidates corresponding to the blocks, combining the selected codeword candidates into a plurality of codeword combinations, selecting a codeword combination having the highest posterior probability and passed Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) test without error among the plurality of codeword combinations, and decoding the selected codeword combination. The packet encoding and decoding apparatus and method of the present disclosure is capable of encoding and decoding packets in a unit of blocks efficiently.
