  • Patent number: 11618368
Abstract: A void-filling apparatus is disclosed. The void-filling apparatus may include multiple end pieces secured together by multiple cylindrical elements. The end pieces may include a sheet (or sheets) of material secured to a panel, which may include a honeycomb panel. Each of the cylindrical elements may fit into a respective opening in the first and second end pieces. In some instances, the end pieces and the cylindrical elements are made of paper-based materials. However, the end pieces and the cylindrical elements are made of a paper-based material may be covered by a liquid-resistant material, resulting in a liquid-resistant void-filling apparatus. In order to maintain engagement between the cylindrical elements and the end pieces, the openings (into which the cylindrical elements are inserted) may include a diameter to promote a compression fit. Adhesive securing may also be used. Also, adjacent cylindrical elements may be equidistant from each other.

  • Patent number: 10836555
Abstract: A packaging apparatus for providing protection against forces directed to an item (or items) is disclosed. The packaging apparatus designed to protect the item during, for example, transport of the item subject to sudden movement by a transportation vehicle (carrying the item) that may cause other items to contact the item. The packaging apparatus may include one or more force bearing features, each of which may include a fill material positioned to provide a counterforce against a force (or forces) in a direction toward the item. The packaging apparatus is also suitable for protecting cylindrical objects (such as drums) during transport. In this regard, several force bearing features disposed on opposing sides of a base member. Further, a strap can be secured to the transport vehicle to combine to provide additional force acting against unwanted movement of the items.

  • Patent number: 9272841
Abstract: Collapsible radiant barrier void filler, comprising: first and second scored sheets having interior and exterior surfaces and fold lines to attain collapsed and expanded configurations; a cell core being collapsible to a closed cell configuration and expandable to an open cell configuration, the cell core having end portions secured to oppositely disposed portions of the interior surfaces of the scored sheets, and the cell core having oppositely disposed cell side portions; and a radiant barrier having a reflective first side and an opposing second side wherein the second side is disposed upon at least one of the interior surfaces of one of the scored sheets and wherein the first reflective side is juxtaposed adjacent at least one of the oppositely disposed cell side portions in the expanded open cell configuration so as to maintain an air space adjacent the first reflective side that extends into the cell core.

  • Patent number: 8398343
Abstract: The present invention is a cargo restraint system for protecting a barrel-contained cargo in a cargo vehicle space during transportation. In one example, the cargo vehicle may contain two sets of stacked barrels with each set having three vertical levels of barrels. In a first embodiment of the invention, the cargo restraint system includes at least one crush cushion placed at either a front end or a back end of the barrel-contained cargo. The crush cushion provides at least five contact points against each barrel and the contact points are arranged along three levels of crush zones. An end-wall system is placed adjacent to the crush cushion. At least one angle member with a plurality of strap separation slots is coupled to the end-wall system. Each strap is threaded through the strap separation slots and is anchored to the cargo vehicle to securely hold the barrel-contained cargo to the crush cushion and the end wall system.

  • Patent number: 8308411
Abstract: A unitary void filling apparatus for use as a lengthwise void spacer which is capable of preventing movement of a load disposed on a pallet, protecting the load from end-to-end forces, and acting as a dust cover. The apparatus consists of a frame folded to make a central area, which fits on top of the load, and two vertical sides, which hangs over opposite ends of the load. Attached to each vertical side are covered void fillers, each adapted to substantially fill any lengthwise underhang and protect the load from end-to-end forces. The central area of the frame supports the vertical sides to which the void fillers are attached, thereby holding the void fillers in the proper position and also preventing dust from accumulating on the cargo.
