The applicants found that pulmonary inhalation of ?-caryophyllene by the above method allows ?-caryophyllene to be efficiently distributed throughout the body, leading to achievements of relaxing and sleep-inducing effects, etc.

According to this granulation composition, a uniform granulated product which is surface-coated with the coating grains and hardly segregated can be stably obtained, even if using a dilute solution with low gel strength as the binder. By setting the gelling agent concentration in the binder at a low level to give a dilute solution, therefore, the granulation composition having excellent properties can be produced at a high productivity.

An alkali-treated gelatin and carrageenan are contained as base materials of the capsule coating. In the gastric (aqueous) environment, the alkali-treated gelatin which is positively (+) charged coexists with the carrageenan which is negatively (?) charged, and amino groups (NH4+) in the gelatin react with sulfate groups (SO3?) in the carrageenan so that the capsule coating is insolubilized. On the other hand, in the intestinal (aqueous) environment, the alkali-treated gelatin which is negatively (?) charged coexists with the carrageenan which is negatively (?) charged, and the amino groups (NH4+) in the gelatin are repulsive to the sulfate groups (SO3?) in the carrageenan so that the capsule coating quickly disintegrates and dissolves.
