Patents Assigned to Superior Transmission Parts, Inc.
  • Patent number: 11725891
Abstract: Methods and valves for providing a continuous flow of cooler fluid in a fluid circuit of a thermal control system between a cooler and automotive transmission such that free flow of cooler fluid between the cooler and transmission exists at vehicle start-up. Fluid flow to and from the cooler is bypassed in case of pressure increases in cooler lines or pressure differentials, for example cause by a blockage in the cooler, such that the cooler fluid flow bypasses the cooler and continues in the fluid circuit through a thermal element of the thermal control system and back to the transmission.

  • Patent number: 11448313
Abstract: The present invention solves bore wear due to inefficient design of OEM pressure regulator valve through an improved pressure regulator valve with lands having narrower diameters and longer lengths, the lands additionally having a grooved design, and a second land having a beveled edge to stabilize fluid regulation. Narrower lands allow for better ATF lubrication in a bore. Longer lands allow for the valve to be dropped into a bore to interact with non-damaged lengths of the bore without further machining. The beveled edge regulates pressure, further reducing bore wear.

  • Patent number: 11408503
Abstract: A system and method for an automotive transmission includes one or more restrictor devices that are installed within a valve body of the automotive transmission to improve performance by establishing a flow limit along the compensator circuit. The complex fluid circuits of certain automotive transmissions having eight to ten speeds allow line pressure supply to bleed out during certain critical functions, such as low rotations per minute hot engagements, which can severely damage the transmission. By limiting flow, the line pressure supply can be preserved to prevent the compensator circuit from bleeding out in these critical functions. The instant invention limits flow by replacing the standard compensator valve with a compensator valve that has a larger spool diameter. Flow is further reduce by another restriction device placed along the compensator circuit between the compensator valve and the clutch drums.

  • Patent number: 10663000
Abstract: An improved bushing restricts exhaust at a lube transfer port and exhaust ports equalizing bushing lube PSI with lube supply PSI. A hole or pair of holes in the bushing with an area equal to that of the lube supply holes in a center support regulates an intermediate pressure to the bushings of 50% of the supply pressure on its own, regardless of the balance piston. When the balance piston is filled, the added resistance at the transfer orifices will begin to equalize bushing lube PSI with lube supply PSI. When the balance piston exhaust ports are also restricted, as with an increased height of the bushing and installation site, equalization is insured and bushing lube PSI becomes that of the supply PSI.

  • Patent number: 10316965
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system of modifying a torque converter clutch control system having a hydraulic circuit including a solenoid signal line, a torque converter IN line, a torque converter OUT line, a lockup clutch apply line, and a supply presser line such that, in a valve body, a hole is drilled in a valve body to connect the solenoid signal line in a first area to a second differential area connected to the torque converter OUT line, and the torque converter OUT hole in the valve body casing is plugged.

  • Patent number: 9334946
Abstract: A vehicle transmission pressure regulator valve for regulating oil flow to a torque converter clutch from a pump in a lubrication circuit of the transmission wherein the valve includes a plurality of spaced annular lands integrally formed with a core body of the valve and wherein at least an outermost regulation line dump circuit control land and a second intermediate torque converter feed control land are tapered inwardly toward the core body and in a direction of an innermost pressure regulator balance land so to dynamically regulate flow into the regulation dump line and the torque converter circuit feed circuits due to the tapered surfaces of the two valve lands and wherein an additional converter assist spring is seated within an inner end of the valve so as provide a continuous force urging the valve toward and open position within the valve seat bore of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 9249875
Abstract: An apparatus and method of providing a continuous flow of discharge transmission fluid from a torque converter to a cooler of a vehicle transmission such that oil flow to the cooler begins at engine start up and wherein the apparatus includes a safety bypass valve that directs discharge from the torque converter directly to a lube circuit other, than the cooler circuit, in the event pressure within the cooler circuit rises above a predetermine pressure due to a gelling of lubricant oil or other clogging of the cooler circuit.
