  • Patent number: 5071100
Abstract: A bracket assembly for supporting a cylindrical canister, such as a fire extinguisher, includes a base unit having a longitudinally extending, transversely concave, front surface for cradling the canister therein and a separate flexible strap member which can be wrapped around the canister to hold it against the base unit. The base unit includes opposing cutouts in the sides thereof into which a central section of the strap can be pressed before mounting on the wall so as to interlock the strap member with the base unit. One end of the strap has a hook member thereon for engaging the other end of the strap by way of a selected one of a plurality of mating apertures therethrough. The back surface of the base unit is transversely concave and the strap member has rearwardly projecting wedge members which engage the wall during mounting and preset the strap to conform generally to the shape of the back surface.

  • Patent number: 4982989
Abstract: An auxiliary handle for use with containers such as bags, pails, cans or cardboard cartons having handle portions included therewith has a longitudinally arcuate base portion and a pair of side walls converging upwardly from opposite sides of the base portion. A generally triangular rib extends inwardly from the inner surface of one side wall and is interleaved with a pair of similar ribs on the inner surface of the other side wall. The outer wall or bottom surface of the base portion has transverse finger-receiving recesses therein. The auxiliary handle fits over the handle portion of the container and helps distribute the weight of the container more evenly to ease the load on the person carrying the container. The interleaved ribs prevent inadvertent release of the auxiliary handle from the container handle.

A pair of ribs extend from the inner surface of the base portion along the inner surface of each side wall towards the outer edge thereof with the ribs on one wall being opposite the ribs of the other wall so as to define a narrow gap at their point of closest approach. The outer wall or bottom surface of the base portion has transverse finger-receiving recesses therein. The auxiliary handle fits over the handle portion of the container and helps distribute the weight of the container more evenly to ease the load on the person carrying the container. The side walls of the auxiliary handle can be used for advertising purposes.

  • Patent number: 4840342
Abstract: A standoff is provided for use with picture frames having extruded frame members with a rearwardly opening channel. The standoff is lockably engageable with the flanges of the channel and projects rearwardly therefrom so that when the picture is hung on a wall the standoff will engage the wall and space the picture a short distance away therefrom. The standoff has a central wall-engaging portion and a pair of flexible leg portions connected thereto. At the distal end thereof each leg portion has a hook portion for engagement with the flange of the frame member. The hook portion may comprise a groove or a shoulder. The standoff may be injection molded or extruded and is made from a non-slip, non-marring plastic or rubber material.

  • Patent number: 4750968
Abstract: A device for applying tape to an elongated exterior corner has a unitary head and a handle attached to one end thereof, the head being adapted to releasably and rotatably mount a roll of tape therein. A roller assembly at the other end of the head includes a triangular frame pivotally attachable to the head, and guide and applicator rollers rotatably mounted therein. The guide rollers are cylindrical and spaced apart on one shaft. The applicator rollers are frustoconical and are mounted on another shaft to define a V-shaped zone therebetween. During use, tape taken from the roll is preformed about the corner by the guide rollers and is stretched against the corner by the applicator rollers. The outer surface of each roller is softer than an inner core thereof to facilitate stretching of the tape and the ultimate conformance thereof to the corner.

  • Patent number: 4730378
Abstract: An integrally moulded device for applying pressure to screen material or a retaining bead, to force same into a groove of a frame member is disclosed. The tool has a central body graspable by the human hand and a thin blade member at each end, each blade member having a straight edge surface extending from the body and a convexly arcuate edge surface extending from the outer end of the straight edge surface back to the body. One arcuate edge surface is transversely rounded for preforming screen material into the groove. The other arcuate edge surface is transversely V-shaped for pushing a flexible bead into the groove to retain the screen material therein. The shape of the blade members permits the application of pressure completely into corners defined by abutting grooves.

  • Patent number: 4707202
Abstract: The invention provides a device for applying tape from a roll thereof to a surface. In particular the device has utility for applying drywall tape to flat or corner joints formed by meeting sheets of drywall material. The device has a cast head and a handle attached to one end thereof, the head being adapted to releasably and rotatably mount a roll of tape therein. A roller assembly at the other end of the head includes frame members pivotally mounted to the head, with first and second applicator rollers rotatably mounted between the frame members. For flat joints the rollers are both cylindrical, and are at least as wide as the tape. For corner joints the first applicator roller is about half as wide as the tape and the second applicator roller has an inverted V-shaped profile for pushing the tape into the corner.

  • Patent number: 4404757
Abstract: Improvements in protective footwear, including work boots or shoes, are disclosed. The improvements include a new heel filler for the heel portion of the sole, the filler being formed of a light-weight moulded plastic material. The heel filler may be easily located in the heel area prior to the final boot forming step. When a shank or protective mid-sole is to be used the appropriate element is provided with a slot or other locating device which may be secured to a cooperating projection on the heel filler so that the two components may be positively located together prior to the final boot forming step. The boot is strengthened by providing a longitudinally extending rib or ribs in the arch region of the shank or mid-sole. The boot is less expensive to produce because there is less possible wear or damage in the production equipment. In addition there are fewer production rejects and the resulting boot is stronger than prior art boots.
