Patent number: 4877186Abstract: A windshield washing system for motor vehicles is described in which a non-return valve is installed into the feed pipe, which non-return valve, for ensuring a quick response from the washing system, prevents the feed pipe from emptying, while the pump is switched off. According to the invention a bypass switchable via a valve runs parallelly to this non-return valve, which bypass is opened in winter, i.e. in low outdoor temperatures, but is closed in summer. Consequently during winter mode of operation the feed pipe is emptied. Thus the washing liquid is prevented from freezing.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1988Date of Patent: October 31, 1989Assignee: ITT SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventor: Wolfgang Scholl

Patent number: 4876909Abstract: An adjusting device for a door locking system of motor vehicles is described which prevents, by means of a mechanical brake device, the motor after being switched off from further running. Before an adjusting process is started, this brake device simultaneously checks if the adjusting force of the motor is sufficient to actuate the driven element. Moreover, a coupling is realized in the power transmission path by means of a crank pin axially movable.By taking these measures operational and functional reliability is substantially improved.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1988Date of Patent: October 31, 1989Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Marcel Andrei-Alexandru, Heiner Bayha, Rainer Bruhn, Iris Maier

Patent number: 4868352Abstract: An improved ignition switch for motor vehicles comprises a common fixed contact, several independent fixed contacts, and several movable bridging contacts. The bridging contacts are individually operated by tappets driven by cams on a rotatable operating member. Guide sleeves mounted in a guide plate restrict the tappet to displacements exclusively in parallel to the axis of rotation of the operating member, thereby preventing transmission of side forces to the bridging contacts. The tappets are unattached to the bridging contacts and guide plates are provided for the bridging contacts to further minimize sideways displacement of these contacts due to off center tappet application. Closing pressure is supplied to the rigid bridging contacts by a separate spring to provide consistent pressure regardless of contact temperature. Bridging contacts, tappets, and guide sleeves are located in parallel to facilitate alignment.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1988Date of Patent: September 19, 1989Assignee: SWF- Auto Electric GmbHInventors: Jakob Botz, Adam Weber

Patent number: 4866322Abstract: For easily assembling an electric motor a locking lug is formed onto the brush support plate. In an assembly position the ratchet lug of said locking lug engages a cavity of the brush and keeps it at a distance from the commutator so that the commutator can easily be installed between the brushes. In order to release the arrest of the brushes during the assembly a releasing part of the locking lug projects into a recess in the housing cover. This arrangement is easy to manufacture and reduced the number of assembly steps. In a second embodiment the releasing part of the locking lug lies above the front side of the housing cover and projects into a recess in the housing cover lid.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Udo Baumeister, Bernd Walther

Patent number: 4866359Abstract: A wiper system is disclosed for motor vehicles in which during normal wiper operation the windshield wiper moves back and forth between two reversing positions, but stops in a depressed parking position outside the wiping area after the power switch is turned off. According to the invention the parking position is changed in dependence on the temperature so that in low temperatures the windshield wiper does not enter the gap between the hood and the windshield. This prevents the wiper from being blocked by ice or snow in the gap. At higher temperatures, the wiper is parked in the depressed parking position as in the prior art.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Eckhardt Schmid, Wolfgang Scholl

Patent number: 4835666Abstract: A signal lamp for an automotive vehicle is disclosed including a housing having at least two individual signal compartments each including a light source and a common glass cover having a predetermined color. A colorless carrier disc having black opaque stripes on one side of the carrier disc and lens elements on an opposite side spans both compartments. A red color filter spans one compartment between the carrier disc and the one compartment lamp and an unsaturated light filter of a color different from the color of the glass cover spans the other compartment between the carrier disc and the other lamp. In the off condition of both lamps, the signal lamp color is determined by the color of the glass cover. The red filter produces a red signal when the one lamp is on.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1987Date of Patent: May 30, 1989Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Rolf Feger, Gunther Holzmacher, Hans-Joachim Wirth

Patent number: 4802257Abstract: This invention describes a wiper blade with a substantially U-shaped supporting yoke between the side walls of which is fixed a component part which, coaxially to bores in the side walls of the supporting yoke, has a bearing bore for a pivot pin connecting the wiper blade and wiper arm. The diameter of the bore in the side walls is larger than the diameter of the pivot pin, so that a metallic contact between pivot pin and side walls of the supporting yoke is prevented. In order to secure the position of the bearing axially a metallic locking spring is additionally fixed in this component part which cooperates with a groove in the pivot pin.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1987Date of Patent: February 7, 1989Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Reinhard Edele, Eckhardt Schmid

Patent number: 4797520Abstract: A switch, especially for motor vehicles, includes a housing which is insertable into an opening of a mounting plate. The housing is limited by a front plate, several side walls and a base plate. Locking springs project from two side walls. Each locking spring carries a stud. When the switch is mounted the studs snap into position behind the mounting plate. Release shanks projecting into the housing interior originate from the locking spring, which release shanks end in the area of apertures in the front plate. Thus the mounting plate need not have openings through which the locking springs are accessible for removal of the switch. Thus the switch can be surrounded by the mounting plate over the entire perimeter of its front plate.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Hubert Spazierer, Adam Weber
