The mechanism includes a base arranged to rotate about a vertical axis of a pole portion, and an engaging portion arranged to rotate about an operating axis. The operating axis is in the order of 115° relative to the vertical axis. A pole member is fixed to an arm of the engaging portion.

Abstract: A method of installing a joint into a light pole is described. The method includes the steps of supporting the light pole during cutting, then lowering a free portion of the lightpole about a hinge. The hinge is configured such that when a free portion of the light pole is lowered, wiring internal of the light pole is not significantly stretched.

The swiveling joint connects a first member mounted to a lower leg of a pole with a second member mounted to an upper leg of the pole. The second leg has a skirt which sits around an annular portion of the first member, with a bearing member located between the first and second members. The bearing member can be moved from outside the second member between a locked position where the joint is fixed, and a released position where the joint can rotate.

The upper pivot member is rotationally coupled to the lower pivot member, and sharing a common axis of rotation. At least one of the lower adaptor and the upper adaptor comprises a pole adaptor mounted at an operative angle to the axis of rotation. The pole adaptor includes an open end for receiving an end of a pole section, and an internal wiring tube communicating with the first central wiring passage and the second central wiring passage.

The first central passage and the second central passage are fluidly connected and share a common axis of rotation, and the first component rotates with respect to the second component about a common axis of rotation. The apparatus also includes an annular locking mechanism including arcuate channels a radial distance from the axis; and protrusions extending into the channels such that upon respective rotation of components the protrusions travel along the channels.
