  • Patent number: 3946344
Abstract: A push-button, press-to-lock tuner mechanism for an automobile radio receiver or the like has the conventional treadle bar replaced by an elongate, flat metal strip substantially rectilinearly movable along its longitudinal axis. Cams on push rods operated by push-buttons co-operate with like members pivoted to the strip to move it to preset tuning positions. The aforesaid and other parts of the mechanism are all flat and substantially coplanar so that the height of the mechanism is much less than the limit prescribed by the DIN specification, thus permitting a tape player to be stacked with the tuner mechanism with the combined unit having a height no greater than the specified DIN limit.
