Patent number: 8562824Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for water purification. Embodiments can generally be applied to demister cyclones (6). Some embodiments allow for more of the pressure change which occurs in demister cyclones to occur in the separating chamber (19) of the demister cyclone. Some embodiments include a demister cyclone having an internal perforated wall (52). Some embodiments include a groove (103) or a baffle (102) on the underside of a boiler cover.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2007Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Assignee: Sylvan Source, Inc.Inventors: Eugene Thiers, Richard J. Deep, Douglas Michael Thom

Publication number: 20130056193Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for heat management systems at temperatures in the range of 120° C. to 1,300° C. The systems consist of various heat transfer chambers configured such that they contain heat transfer devices that are spherical, cylindrical or have other shapes, and that absorb heat within a broad range of temperatures, and return such heat at constant temperature over long periods of time.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2011Publication date: March 7, 2013Applicant: SYLVAN SOURCE, INC.Inventor: Eugene Thiers

Publication number: 20120125861Abstract: A method for removing hydrocarbons and scale forming compounds from tap water, contaminated aqueous solutions, seawater, and saline brines, such as produce water, comprising the addition of carbonate ions by CO2 sparging, or divalent cations, so as precipitate calcium and magnesium carbonates by adjusting pH to about 10.2, thus permanently sequestering CO2 from the atmosphere, and then removing such precipitates sequentially for either sale of disposal.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2010Publication date: May 24, 2012Applicant: Sylvan Source, Inc.Inventor: Eugene Thiers

Patent number: 8043509Abstract: Devices and methods for water purification are provided. An improved demister (70) for removing liquid or other particles from steam is disclosed. The demister can have adjustable outlets. In other embodiments, a demister apparatus is placed, at least partially, inside a boiler apparatus (310). Additionally, a filter flow indicator (401) that provides an optical indication of the efficiency of a water filter is also provided. The filter flow indicator has a viewable side passage that connects the input and output sides of a filter unit. A weighted object, such as a ball (440), can move up and down the side passage in response to the pressure differential in the filter system. The user can determine the status of the filter by viewing the location of the weighted object in the side passage. Additionally, a device and method of adding various minerals back to purified water in order to improve the flavor of the water is described.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2006Date of Patent: October 25, 2011Assignee: Sylvan Source, Inc.Inventor: Eugene Thiers
