Patent number: 9114393Abstract: A disposable dispensing cartridge comprises a reservoir adapted to contain a solution to be dispensed; a chamber in fluidic communication with the reservoir through a first unidirectional valve. The chamber comprises an outlet portion with a second unidirectional valve allowing passage of the solution out of the chamber. The disposable cartridge is connectable via a second connecting portion to a pressurizing device. The pressurizing device is adapted to apply a reduced pressure within the chamber; drawing a predetermined volume of solution from the reservoir, through the first unidirectional valve, into the chamber; and to apply a raised pressure within the chamber, drawing the determined volume of solution out of the chamber, through the second unidirectional valve. The second connecting portion comprises a check valve being arranged to allow gas, but not the solution, to flow in and/or out of the chamber via the second connecting portion. The disposable cartridge is simple and inexpensive to manufacture.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2011Date of Patent: August 25, 2015Assignee: SYMBION MEDICAL SYSTEMS SARLInventors: Michele Rodoni, Antonio Yanez

Patent number: 9114394Abstract: Container holder suitable for receiving and holding a container, the container holder including a base frame for receiving the container, and at least one supporting member. The at least one supporting member is pivotally mounted on the base frame such as to pivot between a first position in the absence of the container and a second position when the container is received in the base frame. The container holder further includes a displaceable element movably mounted in the base frame such as to move along a predetermined distance that is proportional to the pivotal angle of the at least one supporting member. A displacement sensor is responsive to the predetermined distance of the displaceable element such as to at least determine the diameter of the container when received in the container holder.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2012Date of Patent: August 25, 2015Assignee: SYMBION MEDICAL SYSTEMS SARLInventors: Antonio Yanez, Fabrice Ummel, Valentin Zehnder

Patent number: 8999729Abstract: A device for conducting an agglutination assay comprising several reaction vessels, each reaction vessel comprising an upper chamber having an opening for accepting reactants and/or a sample; and a lower chamber comprising an end in communication with the upper chamber for receiving fluids from the upper chamber, a closed end opposite to the end, and a matrix for separating agglutinates from non-agglutinates; wherein the device further comprises a rotating support able to rotate around an axis and holding pivotally the reaction vessels in a way to allow the reaction vessels to pivot about an axis essentially perpendicular to the rotation axis of the support when the latter is rotated, such that the fluids remain in the upper chamber when the support is not rotated, and can flow from the upper chamber to the lower chamber and into the matrix when the support is rotated.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2011Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Symbion Medical Systems SarlInventors: Isabelle Delafosse, Fabrice Ummel, Antonio Yanez
