Abstract: A wireless scanning system for obtaining data related to items includes a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader configured to interrogate RFID tags and obtain tag data from interrogated RFID tags, and a mobile wireless device that is incapable of interrogating RFID tags. The system uses a device RFID tag in close proximity to the mobile wireless device, where the device RFID tag is configured to convey data that identifies the mobile wireless device when interrogated by the RFID reader. When the mobile wireless device is within close proximity to an item of interest having a corresponding item RFID tag, the RFID reader interrogates the device RFID tag and the item RFID tag. Thereafter, the RFID reader routes the item tag data in a manner destined for the mobile wireless device. This system enables the mobile wireless device to obtain the item tag data even though the mobile wireless device has no native RFID reader capabilities.

Abstract: A system and methods of managing entries in a cuckoo hash table that is subject to manipulation by a plurality of concurrent processors are provided. The cuckoo hash table is used to maintain a plurality of keys, along with their data items, in a plurality of entries. In accordance with an operating method, a first command for the cuckoo hash table is processed, and the first command is associated with a first processor of the plurality of concurrent processors. In addition, invalid conditions associated with concurrent processing of a second command for the cuckoo hash table are prevented or minimized. The second command is associated with a second processor of the plurality of concurrent processors. As one example, the operating method manages the situation where concurrent push commands create a race condition. As another example, the operating method manages the situation where a lookup or delete command from one processor competes with a push command from another processor.

  • Publication number: 20100003918
Abstract: A wireless data communication system and related operating methods are provided. The system uses active radio frequency (RF) tags to communicate content data to consumer-grade wireless telecommunication devices, in accordance with a wireless local area network (WLAN) protocol. A method of wirelessly providing information to a consumer-grade wireless telephone begins by providing data content to an active RF tag. The active RF tag creates a content message that conveys the data content, and wirelessly transmits the content message in accordance with a designated WLAN data communication protocol. The wireless telephone wirelessly receives the content message in accordance with the WLAN data communication protocol, and then displays indicia of the data content.

Abstract: A multi-camera imaging-based scanner for imaging multiple target objects at substantially the same time and method is provided. The multi-camera imaging-based scanner comprises an image processing system with memory programmed to identify overlapping areas of field-of-views of the multiple cameras with in a scan field, such that if a target object is imaged by more than one camera at substantially the same time in one of the over lapping areas between two or more cameras' field-of-views, the processing system defines that a single target object has been detected and the decoded information therefrom is processed only once. If multiple target objects are imaged by more than one camera at substantially the same time outside of any of the over lapping areas between two or more cameras' field-of-views, the processing system defines that multiple target objects have been detected and the decoded information for each target object is processed.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for techniques are provided for creating a mesh network in wireless local area network comprising a plurality of wireless switches. An IP address of the registration server can be configured on each of the wireless switches and used to open an IP socket from each of the wireless switches to the registration server. Each of the wireless switches register with a registration server by communicating configuration information about each of the wireless switches to the registration server. In one implementation, the configuration information for each switch comprises a switch IP address and a list of subnets the switch supports. The configuration information can be used by the registration server to create a wireless switch list which includes a listing of each of the wireless the switches in the wireless local area network. The configuration information about each of the wireless switches and the wireless switch list can then be communicated to each of the wireless switches.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for improving network connectivity utilizing a roaming procedure in which the mobile units are able to associate with multiple access ports during roaming. The mobile unit, while connected to one access port, associates with a second access port. While maintaining the connection to the first access port, the mobile unit performs various initialization procedures, including exchange of encryption keys, authentication, DHCP renewal, and the like. After a connection is established with the second access port, the mobile unit disconnects from the first access port. Thus, during the roaming process, the MU is connected to two APs at the same time for a short length of time.
