Abstract: The present invention relates to the antimicrobial mixture comprising or consisting of: (a) one, two or more tropolone derivatives of the formula (1) wherein the substituents R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 independently of one another have the following meaning: H; linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having up to 30 C atoms; OH; OR6, wherein R6 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having up to 30 C atoms; COOH; COOR7, wherein R7 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having up to 30 C atoms; NO2, NH2, F, Cl, Br or I or salts or solvates thereof and (b) one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of: chlorphenesin, imidazolidinyl urea, DMDM hydantoin, ethylhexylglycerin, diazolidinyl urea, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate and polyaminopropyl biguanide or salts or solvates thereof.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing saturated or unsaturated lactones. This process involves reacting a bicyclic compound or a monocyclic compound with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a first acid having a pKa of 3 or less and a first organic solvent, thereby forming a hydroperoxide. The obtained mixture comprising the hydroperoxide is subsequently metered to a mixture of a second organic solvent and a dissociation-enhancing catalyst, optionally comprising a second organic acid. The invention also pertains to a process of preparing the hydroperoxide.

Abstract: The invention relates to a holder for an active ingredient comprising a fixing portion for mechanical fixing under a toilet bowl rim, and a receiving portion joined to the fixing portion for receiving an active ingredient. One problem of such known holders is that they are troublesome to fix to the toilet bowl and to remove again therefrom. This disadvantage is overcome according to the invention by at least parts of the fixing portion being formed from a biodegradable, preferably water-soluble material.
Abstract: The invention relates to a mixture comprising or consisting of: (a) one or more compounds of Formula 1: where the symbols in the compound or each compound of Formula 1 are defined as follows: m=0, 1, 2 or 3, p=0, 1 or 2, n=0, 1 or 2, where, when n=1 or 2, R1 and R2 in pairs are each H or together are another chemical bond, where, when m=1, 2 or 3, each X independently of the others is OH, Oalkyl or Oacyl, and where, when p=1 or 2, each Y independently of the others is OH, Oalkyl or Oacyl, and R3=H or alkyl, R3=H also representing the corresponding cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates; and (b) one or more cooling agents.
