Patent number: 8666588Abstract: A vehicle testing system and method includes a vehicle testing system that is operatively connected with a vehicle computer whereby the system is able to evaluate signals within the vehicle computer. The system includes a tamper testing sequence for detecting vehicle tampering comprising applying a test action to the vehicle intended to generate a signal in the vehicle computer responsive to the test action, monitoring the signal of the vehicle computer associated with the test action, and determining whether the signal meets an expected response. A determination that the signal of the vehicle computer associated with the test action does not meet the expected response indicates that tampering has occurred.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2012Date of Patent: March 4, 2014Assignee: SysTech International, LLCInventors: Lothar Geilen, Bruce R. Kohn, Eugene J. Tierney

Patent number: 8428814Abstract: A method of verifying regulatory compliance of a vehicle having a vehicle diagnostic system includes providing a vehicle unit having an adapter that is configured to connect with a vehicle diagnostic port of the vehicle diagnostic system. The vehicle unit further includes a vehicle wireless transceiver and a memory. The adapter is connected with the vehicle diagnostic port and receives vehicle data including exhaust emission parameters. The vehicle data is stored in the memory. A communication network is provided for two-way wireless communication with the vehicle unit. The communication network is made up of a plurality of geographically dispersed wireless communication transceivers.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2007Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignee: SysTech International, LLCInventors: Pradeep R. Tripathi, Lothar Geilen

Patent number: 7596435Abstract: A vehicle communication system and method of communicating data from a vehicle, such as for inspecting or diagnosing a vehicle, includes providing a plurality of vehicle units each including a vehicle wireless communication transceiver and a memory. Data, such as vehicle data from a vehicle diagnostic system, is stored in the memory. A communication system is provided for two-way wireless communication with the vehicle units. The communication system is made up of one or more mobile wireless communication transceivers. Vehicle data is communicated from the memory to one of the mobile wireless communication transceivers that is in the vicinity of that vehicle unit. The transporting of the mobile wireless communication transceiver increases interaction between the communication system and the vehicle units.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2006Date of Patent: September 29, 2009Assignee: SysTech International, LLCInventors: Pradeep R. Patent number: 7347082Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring leakage of a vehicle fuel system includes providing an apparatus having a gas source, a pressure meter and a reference orifice and connecting the apparatus to the fuel system. The fuel system is pressurized with the source. A first set of pressure measurements is obtained using the pressure meter with gas escaping the fuel system through leakage of the fuel system. A second set of pressure measurements is obtained with gas escaping the fuel system through leakage of the fuel system and through the reference orifice. An effect of fuel vapor pressure created by fuel in the vehicle fuel system may be measured. A leakage parameter of the fuel system may be calculated from the first and second sets of pressure measurements including compensating for the effect of fuel vapor pressure.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2005Date of Patent: March 25, 2008Assignee: SysTech International, LLCInventor: Bruce R Kohn

Publication number: 20070276561Abstract: A vehicle environmental regulatory compliance system and method of verifying regulatory compliance of a vehicle includes providing a vehicle unit having an adapter that is configured to connect with a vehicle diagnostic port of a vehicle diagnostic system. The vehicle unit further includes a vehicle wireless transceiver and a memory. The adapter is connected with the vehicle diagnostic port and receives vehicle data including exhaust emission parameters. The vehicle data is stored in the memory. When the vehicle is powered on a check is made to ensure that the adapter is connected with the same vehicle. A communication network is provided for two-way wireless communication with the vehicle unit. The communication network is made up of a plurality of geographically dispersed wireless communication transceivers.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2007Publication date: November 29, 2007Applicant: SysTech International LLCInventors: Pradeep Tripathi, Lothar Geilen
