The seal includes at least one continuous, uninterrupted, flexible helically extending sealing lip with an inner edge that is axially offset in a first axial direction relative to the outer edge of the helically extending sealing lip. The seal can include an optional circular lip. The seal can include a pressure relief valve. The seal can be split and can include a seal retainer located in a slot to retain first and second split faces abutted. At least one sealing lip is connected to an inner wall of the body and projects inwardly toward a central axis. The one or more sealing lips each include an outer edge connected to the inner wall of the body and an inner edge that is spaced inwardly toward the central axis. Each sealing lip extends helically about the central axis. If multiple sealing lips are provided, each extends helically about the central axis with the same orientation but they are axially offset with respect to each other. One or more helically extending lubricant channels are defined by the helical sealing lip(s) and pump lubricant inwardly upon relative rotation between the seal and shaft. Patent number: 6886833Abstract: A seal includes an annular hub and an annular sealing projecting outwardly from the hub. The sealing lip includes an inner portion located adjacent the hub and an outer portion spaced from the hub. The outer portion defines a nose. The seal includes a hinge portion formed as a one-piece construction with the hub and the sealing lip, and the hinge portion pivotably interconnects the sealing lip to the hub so that the sealing lip is selectively manually movable to and between: (i) an operative position, where the nose is located axially outward of the second axial end of the hub; and, (ii) a non-operative installation position, where the lip is located axially inward of the second axial end of the hub. Patent number: 6325381Abstract: A rotary seal adapted for placement on an associated rotating shaft to inhibit fluid flow between the shaft and an associated housing includes an annular main seal member having a peripheral surface, an inner surface defining a central opening, and first and second transverse faces. One of the transverse faces defines a sealing face adapted for sealingly abutting a transverse surface of the associated shaft in a substantially fluid-tight manner. A resilient annular sealing member circumscribes the main seal member and projects radially outwardly therefrom. The resilient annular sealing member is, thus, adapted to sealingly engage the associated housing and the main seal member to inhibit fluid flow therebetween. The resilient sealing member also rotatably fixes the main seal member to the associated housing.
