    Abstract: A retainer arm assembly (30) for use in a container unloading assembly (10) for unloading containers (C) of various sizes. Pivot posts (34) are attached to opposite sides (20) of a fixture (18) into which containers to be unloaded are set. The fixture is movable to invert the container and dump its contents. Retaining arms (32) are mounted on each pivot post and moved by the pivot posts to a position above an open end of the container. The retaining arms now retain container in the fixture as the contents of the container are dumped. A mechanism (54) is activated to rotate each post from a first position to a second position, after the container is placed in the fixture, for the retaining arms to be located above the container. Other of the retaining arms mounted on each pivot post may contact the container as the pivot posts are rotated.

    Abstract: A bulk mail processing system (10) conveys bulk mail containers (C) from a receiving station (R) at which the container is placed on a conveyor (12) to an unloading station (D) at which the contents of the container are dumped. A video camera (22) obtains an image of the container which is transmitted to a processor (24). The image is processed to determine if residual mail (M) is left in the container after it is emptied. A mechanism (18) removes the container from the conveyor, empties the container, and then returns the container back to the conveyor. A controller (20) controls operation of the emptying mechanism. The controller is responsive to an input from the processor that all the contents of a container have been removed to replace the empty container on the conveyor.

    Abstract: A low pressure actuated labeling apparatus (10) for printing, cutting, and applying labels (L) to articles (A). A printing unit (12) prints information on a label, the label being drawn from a roll (13) of continuous label stock. A cutting unit (14) cuts a printed label from an end of the roll with the cut label being deposited on a tamper unit (16) which transports the label to a position (P2) adjacent the article and affixes the label to the article. Guides (26, 28) guide the label between the printing and cutting units. One of the guides (26) includes a plate (102) having spaced slots (106a-106c) in which are installed guides (108,110,112). The guides each include guide arms which are contacted by an adhesive side (Y) of the label. However, the guides are made of a material to which the label will not adhere, thus insuring continued movement of the label.

Heat conductive plates (102) are also formed in a stacked arrangement and are inserted between adjacent circuit boards in an interdigitated manner for heat generated by the components to be conducted away from the components by the plates. A plurality of pouches (106, 116) containing a liquid heat sink material or surface comformable, conductive elastomer pads are inserted between each side of each heat conductive plates and the printed circuit boards, and between sidewalls (51, 52, 18) of the enclosure and the stack of heat conductive plates.
