Abstract: Software, firmware, and systems repurpose existing virtual machines. After a virtual machine is created, the system stores data associated with the virtual machine to permit its later repurposing. Repurposing data includes data associated with the virtual machine when the virtual machine is in a generic state from which it may be configured for use by two or more users/applications. When the system receives a request to create a new virtual machine, rather than create a brand new virtual machine, the system repurposes an existing virtual machine. The system identifies a virtual machine to repurpose, deletes data associated with the identified virtual machine, and loads a saved copy of repurposing data. The system may then load user data or otherwise customize the database and virtual machine.

Abstract: A computerized method for increasing throughput of encapsulated data through tunnels, the computerized method including receiving data at a first network device for transmission over a network to a second network device. Then determining at the first network device the number of available processing cores on the second network device and generating a plurality of tunneling sessions between the first network device and the second device. Associating the received data with a particular tunneling session and then generating translation data unique to the associated tunneling session prior to encapsulating the received data with the translation data. Finally, transmitting the encapsulated data to the second network device and processing the transmitted encapsulated data received at the second network device with a particular processing core based on the received translation data.
Abstract: A method and system for measuring the alignment between a substrate and a platform upon which it is disposed by using image processing algorithms are described herein. These algorithms automate the detection of edges of a microscope slide and the platform in a digital image. A reference line pattern in an image of the platform can be used to detect platform edges based on a computed location of the reference line pattern in the image.
Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are disclosed for concurrently treating temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) and orthodontically moving teeth. The devices can have an orthodontic aligner and a TMD treatment device. The devices can be configured to concurrently reposition a mandible and orthodontically move one or more teeth.
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for automatically configuring newly installed secondary storage computing devices and managing secondary storage computing devices when one or more become unavailable. For example, a storage manager can then detect the computing resources available to the newly installed secondary storage computing device, assign a role to the newly installed secondary storage computing device based on the detected computing resources, configure the newly installed secondary storage computing device with deduplication and storage policies used by the other secondary storage computing devices, re-partition secondary storage devices to allocate memory for the newly installed secondary storage computing device, and instruct other secondary storage computing devices to replicate their managed data such that the newly installed secondary storage computing device has access to the replicated data.
Abstract: A method for processing user input entered via a data entry system includes the steps of receiving a signal representative of a contact of one or more fingers singly or in combination against an arbitrary surface; detecting a predetermined number of contacts within a time window; and mapping the predetermined number of contacts to a secondary character from a set of secondary characters.
Abstract: A method of interference suppression with intermodulation distortion mitigation includes processing an RF signal comprising an RF signal of interest and an RF interfering signal to produce a first and second RF drive signal each with a desired RF interference signal power and having a 90 degree relative phase. The first RF drive signal is imposed onto a first optical signal with a modulator to generate a first modulated optical signal so that the modulator has a large-signal behavior that is characterized by a Bessel function of the first kind J1(?), wherein the desired power at a frequency of the interference signal of the first drive signal is chosen to correspond to a zero of the Bessel function of the first kind J1(?).
Abstract: Methods and systems for faster and more efficient smart card logon in a remote computing environment are described herein. Fast smart card logon may be used to reduce latency and improve security. For example, the system may reduce the number of operations (e.g., interactions) between a server device used for authentication and the client device. A remoting channel may be established between the server device and the client device. The server may receive, from the client device and/or via a personal computer/smart card (PC/SC) protocol, a message comprising an identifier for a smart card. The server device may replace the identifier for the smart card with a substitute identifier. Based on the substitute identifier, the server may determine one or more cryptographic service providers to use for one or more cryptographic operations associated with the smart card.
