  • Publication number: 20180256137
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed invention provide devices and methods for buffering fluid samples to enable accurate concentration measurements of analytes by salinity-sensitive or pH-sensitive sensors. The buffering capabilities of the device include the ability to control the salinity and pH of a fluid sample, specifically, through the management of solutes such as salts, H+, other ions, and other solutes, that are found in sweat, biofluids, or other fluids. The purpose of such control is to enhance particular fluid sensing device applications by improving detectability of the targeted analyte, or improving performance of analyte sensors. Some embodiments also include components to enable sample concentration to enhance the measurement of low-concentration solutes found in the fluid.

  • Publication number: 20180263037
Abstract: The techniques described herein relate to methods, apparatus, and computer readable media configured to decode modulated data. A modulated signal is received. A format of the modulated signal is determined, wherein the format can include a first format comprising a first type of modulated signal, or a second format comprising the first type of modulated signal and a second type of modulated signal that is different than the first type. The modulated signal is decoded by determining a frequency shift amount based on the format of the modulated signal, shifting a frequency band of the first type of modulated signal from an original position to a shifted position, thereby shifting a center frequency of the first type of modulated signal by the frequency shift amount, and filtering, based on the format of the modulated signal, signals outside of the frequency band of the shifted first type of modulated signal.

  • Publication number: 20180259054
Abstract: A wave generator for a strain wave gearing is provided with a rigid plug having an ellipsoidal plug-outer-circumferential surface, and a ring-shaped displacement body that is flexed to an ellipsoidal shape by the plug. The ring-shaped displacement body is provided with a plurality of radially arranged displacing sections. The plug-contacting surfaces of the displacing sections are in sliding contact with the plug-outer-circumferential surface and when the plug rotates, the displacing sections are repeatedly displaced in the radial direction. By the displacement of the displacing sections, wave motion is generated in an external gear. It is possible to achieve a wave generator capable of generating wave motion in the external gear with a small rotational torque.

  • Publication number: 20180257794
Abstract: A dipole cancellation system and method may include a plurality of magnetometers for measuring a device magnetic field associated with a plurality of device coils generating a device magnetic field having a primary magnetic dipole moment. A compensating coil carrying a compensating current running a first direction that generates a compensating magnetic field having a compensating magnetic dipole moment. The compensating coil may be positioned and the first current may be selected so that the compensating magnetic dipole moment completely cancels the primary magnetic dipole moment. A method may use the system to stabilize a spacecraft by calculating an estimated torque of the spacecraft, receiving a value for an external magnetic field, receiving a value for a device magnetic field, and calculating and applying a compensating current may be then applied to the compensating coil to cancel the primary magnetic dipole moment, wherein the spacecraft is stabilized.

  • Publication number: 20180259053
Abstract: In a strain wave gearing, the addendum tooth profile of an inner gear is defined by a formula and that of an outer gear is by another formula at a principal cross-section located at a tooth-trace-direction center of the outer gear, on the basis of a movement locus (Mc) of ?=1 by the teeth of the outer gear with respect to those of the inner gear. The tooth profiles of the dedenda of each of the inner gear and the outer gear are set to any shape that does not interfere with the tooth profile of the addendum of the other gear. It is possible to avoid superimposed flexion-induced bending stresses and tensile stresses caused by load torque arising at the long-axis locations of the outer gear, and the transmission torque capacity of a strain wave gearing can be improved.

  • Patent number: 10073855
Abstract: A system, a method, and a computer program product for or managing grid server system resource(s) are disclosed. A processor of a grid server in a plurality of grid servers determines an ingestion rate of data received by the grid server for a backup. The ingestion rate corresponds to a speed of transferring of the received data into a memory of the grid server. The processor determines a deduplication and replication rate of the received data. Deduplication represents a deduplication of the received data by the grid server. Replication represents replication of the deduplicated received data to another server in the plurality of servers. The processor adjusts the deduplication and replication rate based on the ingestion rate.

  • Patent number: 10071229
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to multi-segment intraluminal guide wires including an elongate distal portion comprising a first metallic material (e.g., nitinol), an elongate proximal portion comprising a second metallic material (e.g., stainless steel). The distal and proximal portions may be directly joined together end to end by a solid-state weld joint. A diameter of the weld region surrounding the weld joint on either side of the weld joint may be reduced (e.g., ground down) relative to the diameter of the distal and proximal portions of the guide wire on either side of the weld region. A stiffness adjusting sleeve may be disposed over the weld joint so that a transition profile of bending stiffness across the weld region is gradual, rather than abrupt across the distal portion of the guide wire to the proximal portion of the guide wire. A polymer jacket may cover the sleeve and distal portion.
